I got 10 Bulkpaq purple dvd-r's with my writer (50 p each) but have now used them. Also want a few dvdrw's to try out.
I looked at SVP but the cheapest are about 99p per disc for 4 speed. My writer is only 2 speed.

What do you use?

Toshiba SDR500 and Sony DVP500 dvd player.

I tend to only use discs with the ritek dye (very dark purple) such as traxdata 1x or zero defex 1x from cd-rmedia.co.uk

These discs are very good in terms of compatability with different brands of players and ps2's. I burn at 1 speed on my pioneer A04 and very rarely have problems. They are about £1 each. Datawrite yellow tops seem to be good also. Not used dvdrw's so can't offer any advice.

James.

i would buy 2x if i were you as it takes for ever if you write at 1x and if you buy branded dvds as lees probs but then it depends on your goals, if you want movies dont think there is too many probs if you want games they are a bit more selective

Datasafe Media are another excellent 2x disk that use ritek dye.

At the moment, Datawrite red tops (x4) seem to be fine, although use a princo dye.

Whatever you do, keep away from 'bigpockets' ;)

I suppose you can get away with cheaper discs for films,am i correct?

Depends on what you are going to play them on...
My blackbox DVD player doesn't support DVD-R or -RW (It's a Wharfedale 750s) but I can play films through my PS2 or PC DVD-Rom drive.

For games I use Traxdata or any of the purple Ritek based stuff as detailed before. I've not had a problem with compatibility regarding the speed I've burned at, as long as my disks were as above. I've burned at 1x, 2x and 4x and can't see any difference in compatibility.

Hope this helps
Joolz
