Just had a phone call from my brother who is at castle Combe. He says hes just got a video of someone trashing an Evo 7 big style! Hope that the guys in it are OK as they were taken away in an ambulance. Aparently they hit a tyre wall pretty hard.

It's an Evo6 and the owner is ok. Damage is quite bad, airbags deployed. :(

story here. |
Castle Coombe is hardly a challenging circuit either
They won't learn |
Oh hark at all the 'know it alls' sticking their bit in!
Unless you know exactly what happened, I'd not pass judgement Mr Subaru!! |
Yeah, probably right shouldn't comment without the full story. Just had a look in the Evo Forum. Seems like the weather isn''t helping. Why does it seem to be Evo drvers that have struggled. I thought they had plenty of electronice help with Yaw control etc.
Hope they are all ok though, just dented pride |
|
Ive just got back from there-did not see it happen, but dont like to see crashes anyway. The track was very slippery after some light rain as you might expect really.
Hope they are all ok Les |
Steve777 - Norris Designs Evo is an RS version - so no AYC....+ I bet keeping that much power down is a bit of handful to say the least!! (I've been out in that car in the dry...and that was BLOODY scary!)
Just met the driver of the other car at the workshop where it was trailered too - him + missis are ok - which is the main thing (a little shaken though) |
Firstly glad they are okay and noone likes to see soemones pride and joy damaged.
It must be in the back of the mind of anyone venturing out on track that this could happen. Its safer and legal to explore the limits in a controlled and managed environment (and not on the road) but there is always the danger of something going wrong :(. [Edited by chrisp - 5/17/2003 5:59:12 PM] |
I was on track with the MLR this morning when both these 'incidents' occurred.
without wishing to p1ss anyone off, I was shocked at the way some of the cars went in to max attack from cold; cold tyres, cold brakes, few bothered with moderate speed siting laps, no wonder there was an accident. track conditions were pretty good, although quarry is a bit of a nightmare until you learn it. I'm glad everyone's ok, but this is often the problem with running 15 minute sessions. simon;) [Edited by RRH - 5/17/2003 7:47:29 PM] |

thats so sad to see daves car a wreck like that and sorry to hear about simon i spoke to him earlier when i was on the phone with rosco and simon told me all about it, i was gutted too its my hero car
|
I had a great day, great to meet everyone :D
Shame about the couple of incidents though :( but some slight rain made it quite slick in Places and unpredictable  Tony |
Got a couple of pics of you tony, but camera was in blurry mode??!!
Andy |
Had the best day out. Sad to see the damage but glad eveyones ok. Never seen so many Scoobs all in the one place at the same time :) EVOs were mad all day but most entertaining. Cant wait for the next one
|
btw thanx to all the guys who had the bottle to take their scoobs out on track today - great entertainment!
|
I was there & have it on video.
It was clear what went wrong ( as the vid shows ) but the main thing is they are both ok. We was all gutted for the guy, i hope he has good insurance. |
Just to add it was a great day, and we seem to have a knack of being in the wrong place at the right time with the video cam.
This included an accident with one of our guys in convoy on the way there. If ok with people involved i may upload, but, just to add, hats off to all those who had the nuts to go out there & go for it. p.s. must have had half the atlantic dropped on me on way home. |
Good day out glad we made it along. At least those poor guys made it to the circuit, I stacked it on the way there (M4)!!! A big cheers to the other Scoob drivers who stopped to help me out (or just take the mick). Thanks for the duck tape it looks quite industrial now, back to the bodyshop then. Next time I'll make it as far as the circuit.
Sorry to see some peoples misshaps it made me quite happy I didn't get out there as the damage I sustained looks quite superficial in comparison. Can't wait for the next one!! Dave K: I still would like a copy of the tape so I can show my mates who all found it rather funny (rotten sods!). |
UPLOAD! UPLOAD! UPLOAD! UPLOAD! UPLOAD! UPLOAD! UPLOAD! UPLOAD!
|
I can host :)
Andy |
How long does it take as my mates coming to get me for a stag do? He'll wet himself when he sees it.
|
Clint glad your damage wasn't too bad, was 'interesting' to see 30 Scoobs all pullover to check you guys were OK!:D
|
If you can work FTP you can upload it to my server, or you can email it to me (if its under 30mb).
Failing that, you can send it to me MSN or IRC. Andy |
Yeah it was really cool. Thanks again to all that stopped. Did it look good though?
|
Looks nasty :(
