I've got dial up access for my pc, however I have just found out I can upgrade to broadband. However I also want to connect to XBox live.

My pc is in the study, the XBox is in the lounge. I have a telephone socket behind where the X box is situated.
I want to know how best to connect both to broadband.
I only want to pay one monthly fee to the isp provider to cover both XBox live and my pc internet access.
I don't want to have to switch the pc on everytime I want to connect to XBox live.
How do I go about it?
Will I have to get a certain type of modem?
Will I have to run a cable from the xbox to the study.
Do I need a router?
I have heard of a wireless connection from the XBox, what do I need for this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Bill.

I think if I get a router and run a RJ-45 ethernet cable from the xbox in my lounge to my pc in the study and connect this to a router which is also attached to my pc, then I should be able to do it using the one modem.

At the moment I am with freeserve and I can upgrade for free to broadband and then pay £27.99 a month.
Does anyone know if freeserve will allow me to connect my pc and xbox via a router to their modem provided?
If so then this looks the way forward.
Has anyone got freeserve broadband for pc internet access and also uses xbox live using this method?
