Howdy,

My new WLAN has been working a treat now for nearly 4 weeks.

I have a DLINK DI-624 .11g router connected to NTL 1meg connection
Server and workstation are on regular 100mbps network cable into the back of the router and my laptop is using a DLINK DWL-G650 .11g PCMCIA card.

Today my laptop no longer connects to the LAN in my house.

WEP (64-bit) is enabled on the router and I've double checked the keys and the SSID and everything matches.

The route out onto the internet is working fine, my dyndns client can do its IP address update and surfing works fine.

All machines have Universal Plug and Play installed to allow MSN messenger and other aps to do file transfers etc...

Any ideas as to why my lappy can no longer connect to the rest of the LAN ???

Answers on a postcard and thanks in advance.

Ian

It's a long shot Ian (and I'm new to wireless myself) but have you enabled WEP on the laptop as well (and any other wireless connected machine all have to have the same settings).

Yep - WEP is enabled - and the device is using the key I stored in the router.

Just trying to re-install the card and drivers on the laptop now

Will let you know if I get it working again.

Had the same problem with linksys 54g !!!!
Had to disable wep. And all worked.
So much for linksys.

Still no luck :(

I am now trying to go back to a system restore point last week.

I installed a whole load of patches and I'm wondering if thats screwed something up.

The other poor thing is the Dlink PCMCIA card is currently shipping withe a non certified driver - wonder if that is some of the problem.

Ian, had a quick look around the net, and some guy had a similar problem with DLINK equipment (diff' model though) which was resolved with driver updates, don't know if this is your problem or not but worth a look I guess.
