Not actually on my subaru, but on my focus. The rear view mirror has fallen off after 6 months (not bad for a ford though). I have tried everything I can think of too stick it back on nothing has worked.
Even my local dealer doesnt seem to know how to do it, strange considering that they fit them. I have tried the following, super glue, double sided tape, no more nails. Anyone got any ideas?. |
On my old car I had the same problem, I used double sided sticky pads that some people use to stick their number plates on with (me included), they are white and can be obtained from most number plate shops.
Don't use those green pads you get in petrol stations as there ****e. simb |
Loctite Glass Glue. It's superglue in the usual tube, but with a few plastic gauze strips.
You could also try a hot-melt glue gun. |
Try 'mirror pads'
Make sure you heat up the pad to activate the glue. |
Did you know that you do get special rear view mirror glue? Or just as any motor-glass fitment center.

Try Halfords. That's where mine came from .... Dave |
I had the same problem with the rear view mirror in my old Astrs GTE.
Tried the pads, they were cr@p!! I ended up using silicon sealer. Worked great. Dampens down small vibrations & can be removed by sliding a razor blade in the gap. |
Araldite worked on an old car for me, just don't expect to take it off again.

We had the same problem with my wife's Fiesta (must be something about Fords ;)). After trying various glues, which worked for a couple of weeks at a time my wife popped down the local Ford dealer, smiled sweetly, and asked if they could help. They refixed for no charge, but advised that once they come off, try not to apply any pressure to the mirror if moving.
Good luck with yours! Lunchie |

Gum bond. Just ask at your nearest hardware store ;)

When the mirror came off when i had my mondeo, i got a mirror sticky pad for it from the local ford dealer for about 26p.
As mentioned above, just heat it up before sticking it on. John. |
