How am I supposed to polish the car, ready for Japfest? :(

simb 2 16 May 2003 09:46 AM

Tell me about it, took a bloody day off to do it all today, the car has just come back from the bodyshop covered in dust, the outside ain't so bad but the interior and engine bay are a mess, and thats after they cleaned it, or am I just a fussy bugger.:D

Did mine yesterday, spent ages drying it nicely etc...then this happens!

simb 2 16 May 2003 10:06 AM

I've been checking the weather the last couple days, it looks like it will be better than today, but does state patchy rain.

Fingers crossed.

<sigh>

...more of the same over the weekend, I think. Shame - my first track day (Castle Combe) on Monday, and it's going to be wet! :(

I'd just bought some PIAA wipers (before the group-buy, by days! ) and was going to fit those today, but it's raining...

Hopefully there will be a dry day next week. My Swissol wax kit arrives today! :D

</sigh>

ANDRINA 16 May 2003 10:43 AM

JUST CHECKED OUT THE BBC WEATHER AND JAPFEST HAS JUST BEEN RENAMED WETFEST !!!!!!!

Phil 16 May 2003 10:46 AM

NO NO NO

Lets be positive

Its going to be fine

Leslie 16 May 2003 10:53 AM

There is always a silver lining Fatman. If it is wet you wont wear your tyres out:)

Glad I waxed mine on Tuesday, just got to miss as much of what farmers and sheep leave on the road as possible if I can.

Really looking forward to it anyway-whatever!

Les :D

ScoobyKev 16 May 2003 11:04 AM

What wax did you use as I want to do my car..

Regards

Kev

Fatman 16 May 2003 11:15 AM

Yes - I s'pose there is that point Leslie. Theoretically the Scoob should be (relatively) even better in the wet. I just hope that I'm up to the task!

7 Foot 16 May 2003 11:36 AM

Not looking great is it. :(

Cleaned mine last night as todays forecast looked grotty and I am leaving at bleurgh O'clock on Saturday.

Furiously excited though!:D

Edcase 16 May 2003 11:51 AM

Well I'm in Bristol, and its stopped raining and there are a few bright patches. Local forecast for tomorrow is cloudy with sunshine and showers. IE they don't know.

Gonna degrease the engine bay in a mo, then give it a wash. Seems pointless waxing it, in case I get half way and it rains :D

See you all tomorrow!!!! :D:D:D:D

So much for praying....think I'll try blasphemy next.....
weather ...... http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung...smiley-026.gif

simb 2 16 May 2003 01:55 PM

Just stopped raining long enough for me to give it a quick wash, so much for polishing her and giving the interior a good vac.
Not long now:)

greg.g 16 May 2003 02:43 PM

Andrina
If its raining tomorrow, i want my money back:eek::eek::p

And we all know what you look like now:)

I'd hide if it rains;):D

Its probably my fault anyway, i washed my car yesterday:(
Dont know why i bothered:rolleyes:

Greg

DreXeL 16 May 2003 03:13 PM

I'm washing and polishing mine later, my mate has keys to his place of work so we can use the facilities they use to wash the vans, INDOORS!!! ;) The rain isn't going to stop me ;)

7 Foot 16 May 2003 03:54 PM

It will however ensure it looks 'orrible by the time you get to CC. :p

corradoboy 16 May 2003 04:33 PM

What's with all this griping about wet weather. The 1st time I drove a Scooby was in anger on a rain lashed circuit after 6 dry weeks (greasy) and a Caterham had dropped its sump onto the surface followed by 6 cars sqweegeeing it all around. It was one of the best days of my life. It's why cars have side windows and 4WD.
I know it's nice yo have them look pretty and shiny, but it's more satisfying to use them to the extreme.

richiewong 16 May 2003 04:50 PM

Just fitted a new MAF and original airbox in the rain not a happy bunny at all.

Edcase 16 May 2003 05:25 PM

I need to do my rear droplinks but i aint lying on a wet floor!

Canuck 16 May 2003 06:13 PM

Dunno what the hell yer complaining about.
So far as I'm concerned, this is SCOOBY-WEATHER! Who else is gonna head out into this downpour and drive for fun.

SCOOB = 365 days-a-year driving pleasure!

How many other cars can make that claim? (For the money ...)

I'm outa here for my great 22-mile B-road blast home!

Leviathan 16 May 2003 07:42 PM

Japfest is out for me, im scoob-less! just sold it & waiting for the new one. Spose i could always bring the clapped out mondeo estate shed that i use for work,
second thoughts, think il stay at home eh!

Robertio 16 May 2003 10:44 PM

What's all this complaining for? I'll be leaving to drive down in the next half hour or so (and without the benefit of 4WD)

Thunder77 16 May 2003 10:56 PM

Rain or not who cares. Just think of a Scoob with the rain drop pearl effect ... luvly.
