Hi All,
Just picked up my shiny new graphics card, a Sapphire Radeon 9700 Pro Atlantis Ultimate (thingy). ;) The heat sinks are massive and it weighs quite a bit as well. Just hope it fits !!! http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~iwatkins/PC/ultimate1.jpg http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~iwatkins/PC/ultimate2.jpg Cheers Ian [Edited by IWatkins - 5/14/2003 1:39:21 PM] |
Looks like Footlong's only in silver ;)
They arwe humangous sized heatsinks for such a small card. Ahh... And it was only last year (I think) I got rid of my 3DFX Voodoo 3 :) [Edited by PiNkEyE69 - 5/14/2003 1:55:58 PM] |
Not silver you say ? Damn. Actually, I've seen the gold one as well. ;)
Its going to sit in a closed case, so I don't actually care. Nick, if you are reading, did you have any problems fitting yours ? I can see that the sink on the underside is going to be close to other components I think. I won't know for sure until I pick up a Precision 530 it is going in on Friday. Damn, thats the card I wanted! Can't fit it in my Shuttle!

On another note, seems a shame the new Nvidia NV35 part takes up 2 card spaces again, although the cooling layout seems better:

The Radeon's got a passive heatsink, so it's gotta be pretty substantial to cope. Result: blissfully silent operation. Yes, the NV35's cooling solution is better than the NV30's, but it's still going to be audible, unlike the Radeon.

Looks the daddy, Im considing advantages of 9700 or the 9800 water cooled + North bridge cooling too

I was looking at a graphics card ealier (forget which one) and it took up 2 expansion slots, the second one being a mass of fan and heatsink ducting!!!
