I was driving home today and came out of a junction in 2nd, accellerated to about 5000 rpm and put clutch down to chenge up, but it just slammed to the floor - as if the cable broke (but it's hydraulic).

Got the AA out (my dad!) and he said the rod between the clutch cylinder and clutch arm had come out.

Drove it home gently with no problems.

Any ideas why it would do this? Do I need a new clutch?

Any help appreciated!

Mark.

Thr rod has an adjusting nut that may well have come undone, through vibration.

New lock nut on rod and tighten!

Any further help on this e mail my profile!!!

I've just taken the intercooler off to have a proper look and looking at the clutch arm and rod, I can't see any nut or even a thread for a nut. There is a hole at the top with nothing in it though (above where the rod fits in). Should there be something here? Can't see a spring anywhere either - should one be visible?

Any help apreciated.

Mark.

The adjusting nut is inside the car...have a look up below the dash in the area of the pedal box and you should find it :)

There should be a spring from the arm to the cylinder to return the pedal. Sounds like yours broke, and fell off!
