Hi there,
Anyone know where I can get these at a keen price. I need to purchase about 20 units within the next few weeks. Because they are business related the company in question needs to be a1 in terms of support/next day replacement etc. |
Have you thought about Fujitsu Siemens PocketLoox's instead ?
I can point you at a man on here that can supply them (WillieF). Dave |
What about XDAs also? I can deffo get a keen price with contract..
|
you have mail :D

The loox thing looks kinda good but it strikes me as a toy rather than a tool to be honest and when it comes to third party support I expect it could be quite a nightmare for a few months to come. These units are also very mission critical and I think HP would be able to replace em quicker as well, cause they are damn good at that judging from the Printers/Computers.
|
The prob with the XDAs is that these PDAs are running some complex custom based software (BALI Transaction co-ordinator) and I dont think that the xdas would cope. The other issue is the sales force use orange and we have just renewed and got 6310s
|
What about the new Dell Pocket PC based PDA?
We use a combination of Dell PCs and HP printers. And I know which company is A1 when we have a problem, and it's not HP. |
mmm without wanting to advertise but through FSC I can set you up with an international courier collect and replace warranty.
Having said that the 5450 has wireless built in which the loox doesnt... |
These systems will use bluetooth, so that kinda rules out the dell without buying extra hardware (extra expense)
The wireless isnt so much an issue though.I dunno, what do people think to these loox devices ? Any good in a serious business context ? |

Loox's are pretty cool & seem to have all the bits that the Compaq has with the addition of a CF slot, so further expandability.
We're using XDAs 'cos we need GPRS for our app, but I'm guessing that's covered with the 6310s (BT + GPRS). |
I don't know if they have updated these ipaqs yet but we bought 5 of them at work and they are sooo slow. 400Mhz XScale PXA250 = 150Mhz StrongArm. Intel have released the PXA255 which doesn't have the same problem apparently.
edit: I see from the link above that they are releasing some new ipaqs with the newer processor. [Edited by SL2 - 5/13/2003 6:30:55 PM] |
We all use them every day. I had dropped mine and generally mistreated it until it final died the other day when I ran over it..
I am sure I can find some serious business reference sites it you want to email me.. |
We got some direct from HP at a very good price. Does your company have an account manager at HP?
|
Not yet we dont, but one may be in the pipeline ;)
