I have the following engine code GF8C5CD.

I have found out the GF means Impreza wagon, the 8 means 2ltr turbo, first C means MY95/96, the 5 means 5doors, the end D means 5 speed. BUT i cannt find any meaning for the last C next to the D. WRX and STI have different letters or numbers here...

I would very much like to know what this C refers to as this is the type of model you have.... So if anyone can shed some light onto this.....

cheers stu.

Are you sure it's a "C" and not an "8"?
Is it a UK car?

Looks like the Jap wagons for that year only had a "8" there.

"7" would be an RA (4 door only)
"D" was STI RA (4 door only)
"E" was STI (only used for 4 door, STI Wagons still used the "8")

Iain

Your not the first to ask if it is an 8, but i have checked and it is a C. Even the subaru garage are not sure what that C is for. I was wondering if it is a special or custom model, therefor not in the standard list as it may be a limited number.

The car is an import a seems to be MY96, any futher help would be appreciated as this has been puzzling me for a while??/

cheers Stu.

All i can find out is that the code is listed as this model
WRX-EX GF8C5CD , god knows what the "C" means

ahhhhhhh is it a Gravel Express ?????????

It could be the gravel express, but looks nothing like one. It may have been modified as it looks just like a MY96 sti2 wagon. Maybe the "C" refers to this "EX".

I had it rolling roaded at power engineering, it was 240bhp with very low gearing so full torque is from 2,800 rpm through to 5,200 rpm. They showed me a comparison of a uk 260bhp, and my torque curve showed a peak output sooner and for longer, which was interesting. But i lose out at higher speed....

Still not clear realy on what this "C" means..

but thanks for shedding some light....
