i wouldnt pay 20% over a standerd model sorry
special editions are nice, but theres that many of them, its pointless paying over the odds for one when most of the time its nothing more then a few stickers and sum a nice plaque in the engine bay/where ever

would rather buy a cleaner, minted standerd one
them terzos, what was there extras?
floor mats, gold wheels, stickers and blue paint?
not worth paying extra for is it?
"oo whats a terzo mate"
"well its a special edition, they only made so many"
"wow"
"and then they made another load of other specials and painted them a slightly blue diff colour, and fitted them with *golder* wheels"
:)

IanF 12 May 2003 12:19 PM

I've always liked the Mcrae. Not sure about the values though.

From a personal perspective, I would prefer to buy a Mcrae in its original condition, rather than one that has been modified.

+Doc+ 12 May 2003 03:06 PM

I have all the original parts which would go back on the car, I would sell it as a standard model. I just wondered what it was worth???

ozzy 12 May 2003 03:11 PM

I got offers ranging from £10K up to £12K for my MY99 RB5. 2nd-hand prices are sh!t and will be for the foreseeable future I'm afraid :(

It's a buyers market, so people will shop around to find the right car, so they'll have the upperhand to beat you down on price.

Boost II 12 May 2003 03:57 PM

Must be 8 years old now - I would find it hard to justify spending >£10k on one, myself.

STi wanna Subaru 12 May 2003 04:07 PM

I'd say 6.5K - 7K

TREG 12 May 2003 04:30 PM

If you do find a buyer,I would like the prodrive spoiler.
Is the car a DARK BLUE MICA?
E-mail me if your interested.
Thanks.

ADP 12 May 2003 04:52 PM

prices have taken a spanking, it sucks

DaveEscCos 12 May 2003 04:59 PM

Pie anyone ????? ;)

IanF 12 May 2003 05:09 PM

In standard form I would say that this is one of the more desirable Subarus. It was the first special edition released and I think it retailed at £21995.

I guess price wise it is a tough market out there at the moment, but I think what you are looking for is a bit optimistic.

I really like the Mcrae as it was out when I bought my first turbo back in 1996 and understand the significance of it. However, not sure that the more recent converts to Subaru will be so in love with it.

Best of luck in getting what you want for it, there may well be someone out there who is prepared to pay to get a good car.

Regards
IanF

I just sold my MY99 for £7625 although it was a 5 door and their prices are even worse. So, I think 6.5-7k is top money. But good luck anyway.

Gridlock Mikey 12 May 2003 05:23 PM

Swap ya DOC ;)

Mines Y reg MY00 jubblie car only worth 7-8k if dealers are to be believed 10k private sale.
The value of them now is daft if you are trying to part ex or move on.
I was going to get a P1 but felt that I didn't want another financial spankin' so I decided to keep mine and run it into the ground, should get another 3 - 5 years worth of :D out of it

Then we'll see what happens

I reckon that the right person would not embarrass himself or you by offering silly money. Traders and people with no idea (Same thing i know ;) ) contribute to naff prices.

Mikey

Brun 12 May 2003 05:26 PM

My local dealer has got a pair of MY00's at 12995

Ads 12 May 2003 05:29 PM

Problem is that no one trusts Mr.Subaru after the shafting he gave everyone who bought a bug-eye. terrible bug eye secondhand values hit 'Preza 1 badly. Where does that leave 'preza 3 (MY03) - Oh I don't know, but I tested one with PPP and it was smashing. If I was in the market for a 'preza 1' I reckon I would offer SILLY money and get one too - a low miler and say MY00 for 8000 is a reality.

Defiant STI 12 May 2003 05:31 PM

But your local dealer will NEVER sell them...

+Doc+ 12 May 2003 07:36 PM

Run it into the ground then :( If I cant pay me loan off with the sale its not worth sellin

manckster 12 May 2003 08:07 PM

I've always reckoned the Parker's prices are pretty low. When I was looking around a year ago for a low mileage classic, real world prices were a good 2 grand more than Parkers.

I guess if the car's a minter, people will pay more.

D Hill 555 12 May 2003 09:05 PM

why u selling craig ? :(

join the club! 2 p1's and a mac any offers!

+Doc+ 12 May 2003 10:55 PM

I`m not if the prices are as above.
If I can get what i want for it i need to get rid of this loan, problems at home :(
Shame

Pogue 12 May 2003 11:05 PM

If prices are so bad why was I offered 9.5k for my '98 Terzo from a dealer ?

APJ 13 May 2003 01:59 AM

Glasss

Glass's guide is more accurate then parkers - there's an online version via the Network Q website

+Doc+ 13 May 2003 07:30 AM

Just did the Glass`s thingy it came out at £6.5 then if I`m to believe I put 20% on for Mcrae Series : £7800
Still a bit dissapointed i suppose I could sell the bits for a grand thats nearly 9k for the car and parts.
On a happy note I`ve just checked my renewal with Elephant : Your Price is £888.30
Not bad to say my current insurer was quoting an extra £400 because it was a Mcrae???
Decisions Decisions??
I was looking to buy a Clio Williams outright to get rid of this humungus loan, anyone had any experience of them?
Doc

Dizzy 13 May 2003 08:29 AM

I'm sorry but as stated theres no WAY on the face of the earth I would spend anything more than 5% more on a "ltd" edition. I'm sorry as I have a MY96 and its only worth 7k tops. These last two years I've seen scoobs drop soo fast its not even funny. Wish I'd waited that little bit longer b4 buying :(

o well suppose I wouldn't have had the joy of driving a scoob for the last two years though :D

SuperFlyGuy 13 May 2003 08:42 AM

Drifting from the subject slightly.......which wheels are those Doc, Bk238's?
Car is looking very nice, even CM would be proud!

Gridlock Mikey 13 May 2003 09:17 AM

Doc, just drive it mate until the wheels fall off. No use in frettin about it's value, enjoy it instead. Money hassles? Sell summat else ;) always wondered why people get rid of thier cars first  easy option I reckon but the most painfull.

Also, believe it or not, once you decide that the car is gonna stay with you, you end up enjoying it even more because you don't worry about mileage, the odd stone chip, the interior looking worn etc. It's yours dude, people would kill for it, but it's yours. The only real battle you have is will your bottle last longer than the loan ;) Imagine, your car, NO LOAN :D:D:D:D:D:D:D That's what you should be working to I reckon.

Mikey

D Hill 555 13 May 2003 08:17 PM

The wheels are 17 inch speedlines, originals are 16 inch

safari speedlines :D

+Doc+ 13 May 2003 09:55 PM

Safaris are in the loft :D ;)

The more I think the more I wanna keep it.....thats it then it stays :D
I`m a bit happier in my mind now the insurance is at a "resonable" figure.

+Doc+ 05 December 2003 07:28 AM

Just checked how much my car "might" be worth in Parkers guide and I`m not happy. Are these figures for real???
Series McRAE No45 39k FSH Immaculate
It lists a standard Impreza at that age about 7k and the Mcrae 20% extra
I thought it would be worth over 10k at present??? Baring in mind I have various things to sell with it eg 17`s, Prodrive spoiler, Lip spoiler.
Any ideas how much its really worth....how much someone WOULD pay for it.
