Can somebody please shed some light on how the glass is removed from the wing mirrors without breaking it?

Anyone?

Hi mate
when mine got smashed the guy at the scoob bodyshop recommended using a haridryer to soften up the rubber round the outside edge before putting the new glass in...he said this would make the process much easier. In the end someone else did it for me but I assume this advice would apply to removing as well as replacing so heating the rubber seal would be my advice... cheers |
Thanks s-man!
Anyone else had any experience of how easy these are to remove/change? |

Using a hair dryer works a treat, you have to heat the glass as well, as it's stuck in with some double sided sticky tape. Just get a blunt knife between the plastic and the glass and heat and carefully prise apart, then when replacing, heat the edge of the plastic holder and carefully push back in. The best tip is not to rush the heating of the mirror, just keep a nice steady pressure on the glass and it'll give no probs.
