What colour is it?

I have a 96 STI Type RA with Colin McRea seats and a Nardi steering wheel. Is this a limited edition or the normal spec for the RA? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Dougie,

You may be the lucky owner of an STI VLimited with lightweight RA body. Does the car have a vlimited badge on the boot (possibly under a round WRC Championship badge)?

Does your engine have a red inlet manifold with a black ignition coil unit on top? If so, you may well have an early STI 3 V-Limited, which is one of the best cars subaru produced IMHO.

Thanks Moray, the boot has been swapped for a fiberglass one so has no stickers and the engine has been modified including the intake for a larger one, the car is a 96 version II.

I'm fairly sure you have an STi 2 555 RA, the 555 were the first limited editions, the rest all being called "V-limited" (Version-Limited). These are the run-out models to shift stock of the previous model year, so an STi 3 V-Limited will be sold alongside an STi 4 and have extra goodies to get the punters to buy one ('96 was the STi3 model year).
The 555s were created to comemerate Subaru's first World Rally Championship and only the RA version had the Colin McRea seats. These cars are supposed to have a special super-strong triple-welded rally-ready body, and the tuners dream...the closed-block deck, but I don't know how true that is.
I saw one at Donnington which looked identical to yours except it had the badge on the boot and 555 stickers all over it!
I have the non-RA STi 555 version
