Hi all,
I was just looking at my JDM STI-7 and I thought that the front looked almost wider than the rear (from outside tread of left tyre measured to outside tread of right tyre). Sure enough the front was wider by about 1" over the rear....is this normal and why ? Is it to make the front slighty more stable so the rear can slide out easier ? Cheers, Ray |
Anyone ? :)

Are you talking about the tyres themselves? Or about the track width (distance between the center of the tyres)?

Hi,
No not the the tyres themselves....they are the same size. Yes, the distance between the two tyres or tyre track as you call it. I measured to the outside of the tyres but I guess the professional way is to measure the distance between the inside of the left and right tyres. Well, why is there a greater distance between the front left to right vs. the rear ? Is this normal....its about 1 inch wider in the front ? Cheers, Ray :D |

SUK quote the following for the STi TRACK: Front mm 1490 TRACK: Rear mm 1480 I find it difficult to believe that it has much to do with handling, and would suggest that it is more likely to be due to with packaging issues. Various other models in the Subaru range have different arrangements, often dependant on engine and transmission choice. Duncan ;) [Edited by BugEyed - 4/30/2003 2:20:41 PM] |
