An RB5 was a limited edition of 444 cars for the UK market.
These are based upon an MY99 turbo and were in steel grey.
They came with 17 inch anthracite alloys, a/c, solid rear bulkhead and quick shift.
Some were converted to WR cars (bigger spoiler, different coloured dials and PPP.
Check out www.sidc.co.uk for details.
The WR version has 250bhp, the non WR has 215bhp.

ta fellas!, looked rather nice it did, but because i've de-stickered my 94wrx wagon, they werent up for a chat. parked in front of them and waved as i passed, but got strange stares back :) ! Bolton-le-sands, lancaster 2pm this aft!
martin
p.s. so mines still quicker then!!
:)

TonyBurns 27 April 2003 05:31 PM

Errrrrm no not really as your car comes with 220ps on 100 ron fuel, a uk car runs 218ps on unleaded, the WR will be somewhat quicker ;) the standard car will be roughly the same as yours due to power output (both your car and the RB5 run a TD04 turbocharger).

naughtybutnice 27 April 2003 05:49 PM

tony, have had a bleedvalve and k&n induction fitted, and apparently am pulling 278bhp (teg spec), martin

RB5-Black 27 April 2003 05:51 PM

apparently
any RR numbers

I did 276BHP and I've got a graph :p

ozzy 27 April 2003 05:55 PM

hope you've got a Knocklink too ;):)

TonyBurns 27 April 2003 06:04 PM

I really doubt that an induction kit and a bleed valve will give you anywhere near as much power as that (still on the standard exhuast too?)
Get the car rolling roaded, you may be shocked!

Tony:D

naughtybutnice 27 April 2003 06:08 PM

yeh, i know thats easy to say, but only saying what ive been told!! if stuart had said that it should be now 270-280 bhp, then i believe him.
martin

ozzy 27 April 2003 06:08 PM

what's std boost for a 94WRX?

You'd need to run lots of extra boost for that increase. Wouldn't you hit fuel cut before achieving enough boost to reach that figure?

naughtybutnice 27 April 2003 06:12 PM

tony, came over with a full stainless 4", quick shift (razo) and a paddle clutch fitted @ stuarts (townendgarage.co.uk)

TonyBurns 27 April 2003 06:14 PM

Well dont take anything into consideration ;)
You are probably lucky if the cars pushing over 240bhp especially on the standard exhaust.
Even whilst running the car on super unleaded and octane booster to get you to the 100 ron mark, that still only equates to 220ps for your car, the induction would have to be one from under the wing to do much good, a bleed valve also isnt a very good idea on a scoob :( and the TD04 turbo charger is quite restrictive (thus the reason most people are changing them to bigger TD05 units to get good power ;))
Pete at Prosport in stockport has a rolling road and he should soon be doing a day there, probably best if you turn up ;) and see what power your car is actually running (especially with a standard and very restrictive exhaust! )

Tony:D

TonyBurns 27 April 2003 06:16 PM

Ah ok the exhaust will help ;) but your turbo will not give you the sort of power with just a bleed valve (damn scary bit of kit  )

chrisp 27 April 2003 06:17 PM

My MY00 Type RA is a grey import running a cat back stainless exhaust system, running (at the time) 1.2bar on a VF29 turbo. It RR at 258.5bhp. You may be shocked if you get it on a rolling road. Then again it depends on which rolling road as IMHO they all are inaccurate by the nature of how the produce the figures compared to a bench engine dyno.

naughtybutnice 27 April 2003 06:18 PM

ozzy, when cold it,occasionally, if i floor it rather than change down, overboost, does not flash the check engine light on the dash, unlike my mates 94 sti (something strange there, but he had total overboost without, as far as we could tell, bieng tampered with. had to fit the bleed pipe to down the boost)
martin

Brun 27 April 2003 06:20 PM

Over boost on the check light? Thats a new one to me :)

naughtybutnice 27 April 2003 06:21 PM

brun, the check engine light on the dash!!
martin

Brun 27 April 2003 07:06 PM

I didn't realise the Check engine like showed that?

TonyBurns 27 April 2003 07:09 PM

It shouldnt

naughtybutnice 27 April 2003 07:12 PM

dont know if the ecu was played with before it came over, but it was like bieng on a r1, pillion!!:( :)
martin

scoobynutta555 28 April 2003 02:11 AM

Fit a bleed valve and youll need a new engine soon. Ive done b4 on another car and had the bill.

naughtybutnice 28 April 2003 08:56 PM

nutta, doesnt the ecu kick in to tell you you are pushing your luck???? mine just overboosts occasionaly, my mates used to cut out big time (but, as ive said, the check engine light came on on his sti and the ecu would not allow the turbo to work!!) so surely, you can only push her so far before the ecu decides enough is enough!!
martin
ps i realise that my original 270 bhp may be slightly far fetched, but have had some bugeyes have a do and proper left them!!!!
