If I wanted to reset the ECU (and don't have the electronic equipment) the FAQ says diconnecting the battery might work. How long will it take for the backup capacitor in the ECU to drain and the ECU reset. 1 min, 5 min, 1 hour, 12 hours, ..... ?

I know that on my US model Impreza RS which is N/A, I have to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes, then reconnect and start the car with all accessories off and let it idle for 15 minutes w/o touching the throttle and the my ECU is reset. It may be different on your models though.

I leave it disconnected for 20-30 mins

MTR - Followed instructions exactly and the check engine light did its business (ie, flashed every half second or so)
Did not notice any difference, may be a little smoother after I took her out for a little run. Oh well http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif |
Maybe I'll run on super a little while longer and try the reset again
Internet address - it was the full stop on the end that it didn't like. The page is working if you take it off. |
