Misiek

r5obbo 24 April 2003 10:32 PM

misiek,
sorry no pics, but seats not as good as previous years as they are not as long in the leg support area, and don't seem to hug you as in the past.
mark........

naturbo2000 24 April 2003 10:34 PM

Unless you have an import :D

still raised between the legs - very slightly broader across the back, no side airbags

Misiek 25 April 2003 06:21 AM

Bicker, I think you are wrong. There is two pictures of seats from my WRX 2003 wagon (european): http://cdrinfo.pl/dane/wrx/wrx1.jpg
http://cdrinfo.pl/dane/wrx/wrx2.jpg

Are you sure is there no difference between european and UK version (I'm sorry for my bad english) ?

cheeseboy 25 April 2003 06:54 AM

Both of you are correct - there are two versions of the wrx seats. But they are respectively not for each country. As an option from Japan, you can have the "bucket" style, which are the ones posted by biker eagle. But the standard ones are those posted by you Misiek. Also the rear wing is not standard! The wrx is supplied from japan with no wing. It is however practice (and a way for the dealers to get a bit more cash) to supply a wing. And then, as mugs we pay even more for the larger type...

Also, here in europe the side airbags are now not allowed (some rule they didnt fulfill or something). And also the option for the sunroof is also not given. (which I am not pleased with).

Hope that answers a few ques.

Sorry, cheeseboy, you're I don't think you're quite right.

My MY03 came with the standard seats, at least I didn't order any, and are the ones with the raised section in the centre of the base (i.e. as per biker eagle). The flat seats are the optional extra which have built-in airbags - not sure about availability here, but they were in the catalogue from garage (not that that means anything). I'll scan my catalogue and get pictures of my seats tonight and show you what I mean.

Yup, none of them come in with a rear-spoiler and you have to specify it - I got what they called "full spec" which included the spoiler, auto-aircon and the Pioneer GPS Sat-NAV unit.

I'm wondering if there are two types, as apparently the first ones into Europe only had manual air-con, if fitted, and is why I waited for 6 weeks to get the newer automatic one that I have now!?!

Personally I find the new seats a hell of a lot better than my mates MY97 seats. Too tight for my portly figure :D

In Europe WRX have seats which have built-in airbags in standard. Are you sure that your WRX have seats with no airbags ?

AndyMoody 25 April 2003 08:25 PM

I have 2 quotes for EU imports, one with side airbags and one without, both with bucket seats.

I e-mailed a picture of the WRX03 with the raised triangle on the seat base and my Dutch dealer said that's what I'm getting in mine and what he has in his own car!

Andy.

Misiek 25 April 2003 08:44 PM

AndyMoody, if you can ask your dealer for pictures of seats.

AndyMoody 25 April 2003 08:47 PM

I already did. He says they are like the pictures of Biker Eagle.

UK WRX03 shows other seats though and the cars I've seen in UK showrooms don't have raised part on seat base. The cars at the UK Motorshow last year had the raised part in them though.

Andy.

Misiek 25 April 2003 09:21 PM

OK, thx for info Andy. Anyway if you got any "real live" pictures of this seats, please post it there. Thx :)

Taomyn 26 April 2003 12:39 PM

Ok. I scanned this from the brochure I got when I ordered my MY03 in Jan. It's raining so I'm not going to try taking a live picture as this is exactly what I have in my WRX and there are no side airbags that I can tell (or requested).

OK, thx :)

naturbo2000 27 April 2003 11:41 AM

def. same seats in my import from Gertjan :D

He explicitly stated "Bucket seats" on the order form
(presumeably because of how the bucket/sport seats used to differ previously)

AndyMoody 27 April 2003 12:44 PM

My MY03 is coming from Gertjan too. It says BUCKET SEATS in big bold capital letters compared to other things listed on the quotation.

I did get another couple of quotations from another dealer, again both shown bucket seats but different car versions. RAD-EKER and RAD-EKEC, one says side airbags, the other doesn't.

Andy.

naturbo2000 27 April 2003 08:41 PM

If it helps,

My 03 was a RAD EKER

AndyMoody 27 April 2003 09:00 PM

My car is also a RAD-EKER, I just checked the paperwork.

Naturbo2000 did you get my e-mail?

RAD-EKEC is the version with side airbags.

Andy.

naturbo2000 28 April 2003 01:21 PM

Be interesting to know what the model number for UK cars is...

Andy - yes - YHM too :D
