Ok, maybe a silly question, but thinking of booking a place at this event. Does the fact that Mitsubishi are the supporting manufacturer mean that the Scoob won't be welcome?

Also, are these sessions any good for a track newbie?

Thanks

Really simple answer to both questions:

Yep, scoobys wil be welcome. Our trackday car (I work for Autocar) is an Impreza WRX Sti Prodrive, and it'll be out on the day. Just be aware of the noise regs at Bedford - its a contentious issue on this forum.

Is it good for newbies? Yes. Its a quick circuit, but isn't too demanding on brakes and doesn't have any nasty armco. If you go off, you've just got lots of grass run-off to slow you down without causing damage. The Autocar days also tend to attract less hardcore drivers too. Instruction will be available if you want it, but they are generally pretty chilled out.

Hope this helps

Silverback,
It's a great circuit to learn on :D, My STi7 PPP'd had no problems with Static test :D which I could not influence as Autodrome Employee had meter and Autodrome employee watched Rev counter :(

It also sailed through the 'Driveby' test:) My Car was DRIVEN by an Autodrome employee, Who did remark this goes REAL well  I could not influence the driveby reading even if I wanted to ;)

On the long straight 136mph :p

I have never cheated at anything in my life (now 48)

Tony

Ps. Most of the debate with JP was aired on this Forum and not the SIDC Forum yet SIDC Club are banned :(

If you go to Bedford - of course lap times are not to be gathered if your insurance is not be invalidated - but a good reference is the Autocar top 100 last year. Best times were around 2.49 from memory. And Tiff got 2.52 in a Pork 911 turbo. With only five or six cars under 3 for the full circuit.

Of course if you are videoing you can have a look afterwards ;)

Personally I love Bedford - and have aways been marginal on the static test - but fine the with driveby test! I was once black flagged at Bedford which led to a 20 minute argument - before they realised there was another identical car out there :o
