Hi People,
Since I upgraded to XP Pro from Win 98 SE, auto live update does not happen any more. When I upgraded to XP, I uninstalled Norton antivirus 2002 and installed Norton antivirus 2003. All the boxes are ticked correctly in the options menu for auto update, but it won't go into live update like it did when I was on Win 98 and Norton 2002. In scheduled tasks, "run live update" comes up as "could not start". The time shows an attempt every five minutes but could not start comes up. What do I need to do? Cheers, Wrexy. |
Right click my computer, manage. Look at the event logs and see if it says anything?
|
Where? In Application, Security, or System?
Cheers, Wrexy. |
Probably under Application i would guess
|
In application, type WARNING, source EVENT SYSTEM, category 52 event 4354.
No mention of live update. Cheers, Wrexy. |
had the same problem m8. doesnt auto update now for some reason. i just go to the symatec site and down load latest virus definitions using the intelligent updater. see here

Bigsinky,
Thanks for that m8. At the moment I'm manually downloading the virus definitions by clicking live update on Norton AV. I try to do it once a week, on a Wednesday, cos that is the day they update the definitios unless something urgent comes up, where they update earlier. But sometimes I forget and a week or so may pass where I've forgotten to update which is why I wanted to get it to work. Cheers, Wrexy. |
Problem now solved. :D I uninstalled Norton AV, reinstalled it and auto live update now works. :)
Cheers, Wrexy. |
