Finally after waiting since the end of January, my Silver MY03 WRX is being prep'd and will be ready for me on Friday.

For anyone interested, it's a left-hooker (as I live and work in Luxembourg), and is what they called "full spec" which means having the spoiler, fully automatic air-con (which is why I waited so long as they could have given me a manual one early) and the ICE upgraded to GPS Sat Nav (which they are kindly installing with English as the default).

Can't wait to drive it back to good ole Blighty (or should that be rip off Britain - 98ron is 55p/litre here guys 'n' gals!) to show it off, which should knock a few K's off the 1500K run in.

Both of you - enjoy your new cars but watch out for your paintwork!

Care to elaborate please?

check out the posts to do with stone chips and paint - the scoobs are notoriously bad.

I posted some piccies today of some bonnet damage from a stone after only 2600 miles...

But don't let anything put you off - you're gonna love your new car!

Thanks for the comments fella and I will most certainly enjoy ownership and being part of this friendly gang on here.

Is it the done thing to wave to other owners as it was with my TVR or is that considered a bit morgan like ..haha

Thanks for the warning - I'll make sure to keep an eye on it. Hopefully as most motorways and even lots of roads (specially in Lux) out here are more runway quality than the gravel tracks of the UK, this won't be so much of an issue ;)

I got hooked by my friends MY97 but seeing as I love all things new and the MY03 was available when I started shopping for one, I just couldn't resist.

'Apparently' mine will be ready Friday too, they've tolk soo long that ive put 2300 miles on the car that is being PX :)

Im feeling i should of bought one of the other 2 cars i was looking at (Civic Type R - better company tax, S2000 - better :) :) :) )

Hopefully when i drive it i will feel different again

Simon

How much for the car and registration tax in Luxembourg , I'm thinking of a new wrx (Belgium) , but the reg tax is 5k , I wonder if there is any way around it .

Thanks

Pressman 09 April 2003 01:03 PM

Yeah , I figured I'd need residency in Lux , the price is the same as here though , I wonder if it could be done with a leasing deal through a Lux company - contract lease or somthing like that ? As I said the registration tax here is 5k .

thanks

tbh I've had stone chips on most of my previous cars, particularly the faster ones. Lets face it if you trundle round everywhere at 50 mph stone chips are never going to be as bad as if you have a scoob that can shift and is driven fast.

Unfortunately 2 inch paintwork would struggle not to get chipped by some of the rocks Ive been hit by recently.

Enjoy your new cars and welcome to the "club" :)

Pressman: I haven't got the exact details of the invoice with me, but if you can wait until tomorrow I'll post them then. Off to top of my head the car ("full" spec) including TVA (VAT), registration (50 euros), conformance test (450 euros) is 25k euros (I'm also paying an extra 50 euros on top for a personal plate).

One big caveat about buying in Lux is that to have the car registered in Lux you have to have Lux residency.
