As my MY00's warranty expires in June I was wondering whether its still worth getting my car serviced by a main dealer or a specialist like Scoobysport/PE. Does it make a difference come trade in time to wether you have main dealer stamps in the service book?

I have part xed a few cars in my time and not once has the dealer checked the service book.

Would no doubt depend on who you're selling it to and who else serviced the car if not a Subaru dealer. If a well respected/known service place I wouldn't imagine it would be too problematic.

If it has a FSSH, would it be worth extending the warranty?

Even if you don't want to do that, it'll still be best to use someone who knows about Scoobs, like the companies that specialise in import servicing.

Jake, personally I'd look into extending the Warranty :) no worries about any turbo and other bits going bang !!! Usually costs about £250 for 2 years (don't hold me to that quote as it may be per annum) even though, not too bad considering a new Turbo would set you back a couple of G's

Just my opinion for what it's worth :D

wish it was £250 for 2 years:D

Rasher, what is the actual cost m8 any ideas :D

Rasher 08 April 2003 12:43 PM

I'm sure it's around £400 for 1 year and £700 approx for two years, but I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong:D

It mileage depended ;) I paid £384 for an extra two years, but mileage was around 30 k at the time. Phone my local dealer Tileys for a quote, asking for Kelly. I'm not connected in anyway with Tileys. They just take my hard earned cash from me

There's another thread about extending the warranty, so might be worth reading that.

Been quoted £404 for two years up to 60K.

Well my warranty is not an issue as I have done one too many mods!!! I was more concerned with the resale point of view when the car is approx 5 years old.

I suppose it all depends on your location aswell if you only have main dealers near you then it makes sense to use them. But if like me you have a specialist within a hours journey time then I think I will use them instead and save myself a small fortune in labour costs and spend it on HKS parts instead.

£266 for 1 year and £404 for 2 years up to 60k miles.

I've just renewed mine. This is the price for the genuine Subaru factory warranty and not the approved second hand warranty......

If you are a day over the 3rd birthday the you won't be allowed to buy it, so they say.

Was deciding whether to extend mine this Sept on my MY00. £266 aint bad at all for warranty so think I will be taking that up. Might buy the two years if you cant buy a 5th year on top.

Mileage shouldnt be a problem. Only done 13K :D although 8K in 8 months since I bought it.

Simon.
