Hi,

I recently put my car into a shop to get the passenger side rocca cover gasket replaced due to a tiny oil-leak.

They also did the driver side, now the driver side is leaking real bad.

New gaskets etc but it leaks, any idea why ?

After reading here it seems to me they musn't have used any sealant.

They told me that when they took the cover off there was silicon previously used and may have warped the rocca cover, so that may need replacing and the head done also !

Does that sound likely ?

Did they use genuine Subaru gaskets?

Have seen problems before when using pattern parts from motor factors.

Check the "D" seal at the back of the rocker cover is there also.

Shouldn't have silicon on it, I was told by a mech to smear with grease before installation. Stopped my leaking cover anyway!

Cheers,

Craig did you get this done on IOM?
If so where?

As I am about have mine done next month at south coast.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Dave i was in Liverpool for a week so got it done while i was there - BIG mistake. Left it with them for a week and ended up having to order the parts for them as they couldnt find belts etc, can you believe it.

Got my scooby back nearly undrivable - £700 it cost me all up and my car is worse than it went in. Havent been able to drive it all week.

Im putting it into south coast next week to get the leak fixed, they are really good i have heard.

Dave : you should get an "Oil catch Can" put on also mate - they are excellent. Save gaskets etc.

http://reganrotaryracing.tripod.com/catch.htm

"Oil Catch Tank catches the oil and moisture in the blow-by gas that causes carbon and sludge build-up in the intake system and the engine. It keeps the engine clean even under hard driving conditions."

Edited: to add catch can

South Coast performance is on the Isle of Man - Hills meadow - Very good !

Went in with a very minor oil leak on the passenger side rocca cover.

The job I aksed for:
New cambelt
2 rocca covers
Put my new pagid disks and pads on.
Oil Filter/ Oil
Belt kit install

£700 and left there for a week

Plus they couldnt get hold of the front belts or gasket for rocca cover, so Thursday i had to ring around and get the gaskets couriered to them !

I have had to get all the above redone by South Coast.

Rocca covers because they were leaking
Cam belt gasket - leaking.
Brakes discs on wrong sides.

To get it fixed £300.

Im not happy at all.
