Looking back at how Impreza ownership has grown from 'Subaru what's that?' to the 'car of the decade' status it has now. I'm wondering whether the car magazines such as max power, revs etc have done anything to build the legend so to speak.

Sure we can point to the 'max power' sterotype and how it has seemingly made the car desirable to scum and encouraged 'loutish' behavoir but without the attention of the car mags would the impreza just be 'another successful rally car'? and not the highly desirable, slow depreciating car we know and love today?

I guess what i'm pondering is, is have max power et al done more good than they have harm?

Unfortunately the slow depreciation will not be for much longer, with the image dropping noone will be interested in buying the newer cars so the prices will plummet http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Neil.

As the price of Scoobies fall younger people will buy them and the rep and price will fall further.
I personally think that the price drop has more to do with EU imports that magazine articles anyway.
Let's just be grateful that the Scoob has had the image it has for as long as it has.
Times change, cars change.
I can't see how Max Power or Revs could possibly have an adverse affect on Scoob values, despite recent articles.
It's simply a desirable car that has had a lot of publicity in recent years, some good, some bad.
Either way, it doesn't change the fact that it's one hellof a car.
We've been very lucky with residuals.
I guess it's just time to face the real world.

Stef.

Exactly what is the difference between a Max Power/Revs article or an Evo/Top Gear article.
Ultimately they both say the same things about the car, though in different language.
Look how many editions of Evo starred the Impreza. VBH of Top Gear will take me to bed and stay awake when I get my 22B/P1 or Sti.
If I put a mega sound system and engine mods I will be G_D in the eyes of todays street youth and their girlfriends will pose topless for me!
Buy the car. Be happy with the car. Anddon't worry, the Evo VI is flavour of the month now. But don't tell Vicky.

Anders,

Maybe she isn't impressed by 22B.COM, all one page of it! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

How long before it goes online?

Moray
