Over the last few years I have become fairly good at doing ICE installs and alarm systems but over the last few days I have been thinking that maybe I should set this up as a nice side line to earn some extra pennies.
The reason for this post is not for me to waffle on but just to find out the best way to go about it. I only want to do it on a part time basis to start with but if all goes well who knows.
So if any one can give me some good advice it would be of great help.

cheers

I set up a Mobile Valeting over the summer about a year ago, and drumming up business is very easy! I know 'Installs' etc. is different but advertising in the Buy'n'Sell is a very good start even tho quite expensive!

Also have some cards made and leave them in petrol stations etc. Thats how i got in touch with the guy that fits my ICE!!

Try it!- Good Luck!!!

Word of mouth mate...........

Keep everyone happy at the early stages...... Then rely partly on thier recommendations, I know I always listen to my friends recommendations mate

Come and fit my new system for free and I will tell everyone how great you are!!!

IMHO - ICE is one thing - Alarms is another.

Even I can fit ICE :o

If this board is anything to go by (Muppet forum excluded ;)).

When it comes to alarms:
a) You must be a VSIB approved installer.
b) You need a good track record.

Just my 2peneth...

All the best,

Chris

Lol at Stringpants

Business cards is a good way to go. I have done well in the past by giving happy customers a few (leave them in there car after an install)to dish out to friends and admirers of your work..

ice man , first up you need a good demo car to show off what you can do and are capable of , possibly any pics of any other work you have done aswell .

Also , i dont know if you are going to like this , if you have a good demo car then you might try going to some local cruises in your area and showing the car off there . That will get you noticed , leave some business cards , leaflets near the install and its possible you may get business from that.

Telling people on bbs's about your services , also .. building a small website to showcase your work .

Advertising in local papers etc.. like people have suggested. Local car shops , possibly any that sell car audio equipment etc..

Good luck.

As already mentioned, I'd go for the ICE route as it will cost money to get and stay certified for VSIB/alarm brands etc.

Word of mouth is, without doubt, the best advertising and also cheapest.

Get your prices right, allow for service, do a good competent job and you should find yourself with a steady business.

Cheers,
Nick.
