salsa-king,

Make sure you buy a kit specifically designed for your car. You need a kit which includes the correct adapter hardware to mount the cone-filter AND to connect the engine's vacuum (sp) breather system up correctly. If the breathers are not connected into the induction system, they won't work as intended and this may cause damage toi your engine. Pssst Bang!

I am not saying don't get a kit, they are great, just make sure you get the correct fitting for your car. £65 sounds very cheap for a kit that includes the necessary specialist adaptors.

what's the advantage?
is fitting easy??

Salsa,

I've fitted a K&N Induction kit to my MY97.
Other Mods. SS Downpipe & Backbox.

Very worthwhile investment!!!! Better pickup and lovely induction roar. You will also hear the turbo spooling up and the Psssht of the dump valve. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Price wise, try Pro-Sport in Melton Mowbray.
I am sure I paid about £65

Fitting is a piece of Psssht. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Cheers
Chris

Hi Moray,
Any idea which firm has the required know how and understanding to fit one of these?

I know that there are a plethora of kits available to fit now, but it seems as though it needs to be the right one.

adverts in the car mags say a 57i K&N are for the Impreza!!!!! do these have all the right fittings?????
all seem to be around £70!!!!
Do I get the same affect with only a Magnex 4" end Back box, want the SOUND!!! or should I have the through pipe as well?
but that takes out the CAT!!!!!!
does that create a problem for MOT's + emmition??

Do the transport agentise pull you over for spot checks on your cars emmitions??????

Blowdog,

As long as you get the right kit for your car and you are not a complete loss with a socket set you can fit the kit yourself. I have fitted two different kits, both japanese, both with instructions in japanese (IIRC), but they both had very clear diagrams that made the fitting job easy.

Just take your time and be careful not to leave anything you loosened of loose. Oh, and be careful whan handling the MAF sensor, don't jolt it or poke things into it! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Handy hint: With japanese instructions, the car model for impreza bits tends to be the "GC8"(4/2Dr) of "GF8" (5Dr), so, for instance, if fitting a Blitz SUS Power filter, choose the "GC8" impreza bracket rather than the other one for the Legacy.
