I’m new to this site, so I shall probably bore you all with this! I’m picking up my WRX STI V 98MY on Friday, I’ve had tracker 24 hour fitted, as tracker told me they have a 100% recovery rate, and can detect there signal any where, is this a true statement or not, is there any advantage or disadvantage to tracker over trackstar. Sorry if this subject has been discussed before, but as said earlier I’m new to this site and the joy that is Subaru’s

Welcome. Do a search under "tracker" & there will be all sorts of pros & cons.

The main difference tho is that if you rang Trackstar & asked them to pinpoint you now, they could, immediately, whereas Tracker couldn't.

I understood that Tracker needed a police car fitted with tracking equipment who could be bothered to find your car.

Has that now changed?

Tracker requires you to report the vehicle stolen before activation can take place and relies on the police having the glove box tracker unit switched on. Tracker Moniter will detect (unauthorised) movement of the vehicle and you will be contacted if unauthorised use has taken place the unit will be activated but relies on the police and beacons to pick up the signal.there is no location facility with tracker

Paul,
I'm a mainframe boy, these new fangled PC thingys don't agree with me!!!

I actually searched for 'trackstar', at 191.com, which uses 37 search engines, but it still didn't find it. I'm probably just thick.

Don't worry mate, I've often found search engines useless if your looking for a particular company http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif Best bet is often just to guess the URL. I'm sure eventually these search engines will actually find what your looking for, rather then a wide variety of porn sites + 2 obscure technical articles about geysers http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I reckon this BBS is a good search engine http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
