I HAVE A LOW MILAGE WELL MAINTAINED CATALUNYA, STANDARD ENGINE. IT'S STARTED DOING THIS, ABOUT EVERY 15 STARTS....

1) STARTS, TICKS OVER ABOUT 700RPM, FINE. AFTER 4 - 5 SECONDS, TICK OVER SHOOTS UP, ENGINE FLOODS, AND HAVE TO WAIT 10 MINS TO RE-START.

2) STARTS, TICKS OVER ABOUT 700RPM, FINE. AFTER 4 - 5 SECONDS, TICK OVER FALLS TO ABOUT 200RPM, YES 200! KNOCKS LIKE MAD, LIKE AN OLD DIESEL, NO RESPONSE FROM THROTTLE. LEAVE FOR TEN MINS, FINE, STARTS OK!!

WHEN IT STARTS...FLIES LIKE A SCOOBY SHOULD.

HAVE CHANGED: CRANK SENSOR, CAM SENSOR, ENGINE TEMP SENSOR. IT'S MUCH WORSE WITH 95RON FUEL THAN 98 RON, AS IN DOES IT MORE OFTEN.

NOTHING IN FAULT LOG.

HELP ME!!!

CHEERS,

MARK.

I had a similar problem with my Cat idling very low after a thrashing.....I cleaned the MAF sensor with some white spirits and some cotton buds and touch wood its gone.

M8 UK or not, dont use 95 ron fuel, its for fiestas and mondeo's.
Sorry I couldn't be of more use...

Turn your Caps Lock off mate, my shoulders are covered in blood ;)

The problem will almost certainly be your water temp sensor. When it fails, it defaults to 80degC coolant temp, so the ecu does not use its cold start routines.

Cheers Catalunya, had a total non-start situ last night, disconnected MAF Sensor, and started OK! Cat is going for a new Sensor tomorrow, as it is still under warranty. - I'll keep you posted.
