Would welcome your thoughts;
My car is an STi V3 with magnex turbo back and Blitz boost controller. Rest of the engine is standard, gives 314bhp @ 1,2 bar and runs great on Optimax. Power Eng said it was running the injectors flat out, and set the max boost @1.2 bar to suit. Question is can I boost a bit more, 1.3/1.4 and will it do anything to add to the torque I have? The car is a hill climber so weekend running is very hard on the car! Graham. |
I run my V3 engine to 1.4 spike and 1.2 held. You'll need to uprate your fuel pump and fit a SX or similar fuel pressure reg to do it safely. Also consider upgrading the wastegate actuator to a HKS or sim to help with the boost creep.

I run my V5 STI Type R at 1.45peak boost holding up to around 1.1bar. It was dyno'd last week at 307bhp/246 @ wheels, so you're figures are impressive considering you are only running 1.2 bar.
I am running a standard fuel pump , so not sure whether I should have gone for an uprated one at this time? Any ideas also appreciated? |
Turbo wise - the VF23 which is likely to be fitted is really only good up to 20psi (1.38 bar) - apparently so this will limit you in any case...

Why do you get boost creep? The display on the Blitz meter has gone from 1,18 to 1,21, is this what you mean? I am running at peak injector output so maybe that is why I'm at 314 bhp. The car actually feels slower by some margin than when it was boosting at 1.6bar.
Maybe I should just leave it alone and let the creep get me to 1.4 anyway! I don't really want to go to bigger pumps etc just to get 10 or so bhp, so it is best to leave alone. Graham |
