Any one had the above for an STi V5, i own a type r STi V5 and may be looking at this, i believe it is an ecu exchange?
Although currently in cyprus i will be coming back to england next year.
I have a Apexi downpipe, Trust power xtreme exhaust system, all decatted & magnecor leads, lightened flywheel.

Two types, Tek 2 and Tek3(plus john banks' tek 2.5). Tek 2 is standard coverall safe map and can be done on an exchange ecu if you have one or a flash remap, Tek 3 is custom mapping of your existing ecu, more power, more torque than tek 2 because it is optimised for your car, whereas Tek 2 has to be more conservative to cater for any peculiarities that any one car may have. You're lucky that yours hasn't had a problem with that spec and no remap, decat, plus hot Cyprus weather. I would get a knocklink on it asap to see if it is detting or not. If it is back off and/or overdose it with octane booster.

Completely irrelevant but does just a query....
I seem to spend most of my life these days in Cyprus and I've noticed quite a few Evos and STis tooling about. I've always wondered what fuel they are run on.
I've never seen "Super" Unleaded (97RON) and certainly nothing like Optimax (98.5RON) for sale.
Is it just bog standard 95RON unleaded?
Do you just overdose them on octane booster?

If u go to BP then u get 98 ron Super unleaded, there are loads of STis knocking about, no known problems with anything and most are well specced up. I know the mechanics and dealers fairly well as they all atten the sidc island meets

Scoobystan, have a read of this - John Banks is one of the leading ecutek mappers around at the moment, alternatively get in touch with Bob Rawle Developments - they have a banner add on here.

Mile br developments and ecutek, thanx.

Scoobystan

Still irrelevant to your query - sorry - but what are parts prices like in Cyprus? Also are there any Impreza scrap dealers out there?
I've always thought the bits must be cheaper there....

I think you also get 100ron in Cyprus, I'm sure that is what I filled up with last year at the Cyprus WRC.

It is also mega cheap compared to rip off Britain!

Scoobystan,

There is no Tek 2 or Tek 1 for an STI or STI type R or any JDM specced car. The Tek 2 is an off the shelf map for UK/Euro specced cars only. You will only be able to get a Tek 3 custom map for your car if you go the EcuTek route.

If any of the Ecutek mappers have mapped a Type R, with similar mods to yours, then he will be able to do you an exchange unit from the maps they have from the previous cars, otherwise you will need a custom map for your car. It will be a Tek 3 though.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

I think a few are doing JDM MY2001 and newer 'TEK-2's' i.e. Plug-n-PLay maps:

Try ScoobySport Pat or Pete.

Cheers,
Ray
