Is that Cleeve Hill Cheltenham in the background?

Or just a similar area.....

Mark Piesse 16 October 2000 08:31 PM

GT

Sorry to dissappoint you, its nowhere as grand as Cheltenham, its on the downs overlooking Sandown on the Isle of Wight. Taken whilst over there visiting friends.

Mark, is that a Magnex 6"x4" oval back-box I see under there? If so, would you recommend it as a pipe to produce a nice raucous sound?

Mark Piesse 17 October 2000 08:34 PM

Harryh,

10/10 on spotting the Magnex.
I've only changed the back box - no mid-section or downpipe for me yet!

I think it does give a much better sound, much deeper and raucous than a standard backbox, great for frightening little old ladies and the local wildlife. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Also I think the 6" x 4" oval suits the back more than the standard twin pea-shooters or the 3 1/2" round option.

I reckon my car needs a noisy exhaust, think it'll go on my Christmas list (shouldn't be hard to guess what it is when wrapped up under the xmas tree http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif )
The standard item makes a nice subdued burble, but as you say doesn't actually scare anyone http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

nice to see your car on here, the 16" are still lookin great on mine, thanks, want to change cars now to the newer interior like yours (see my post in General) but thinking about it still, will take off the 16"'s and keep um safe in case i feel the need for a track day. LOL

harryh
4get the 6x4 on marks car, the Magnex 4" round looks as good if not better!!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.giflooks awesome, great sound. I'm like mark and only have the back box but if you get a K&N air filter induction kit it just finishes off the sound to go with the Magnex without having to do tooooo much changing of your car (as these can come off if you want to take them with you when the car goes!!)

sammyh 24 October 2000 08:19 AM

Mark glad you are pleased with the back-box, what's the sound like?

harryh 24 October 2000 02:04 PM

Salsa, I think I like the look of the oval better, but you could always try to persuade me of the error of my ways with a picture of the 4" round http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

DazV 24 October 2000 10:19 PM

If you're looking for a backbox, I'll sell you my scoobysport (serious)

harryh 25 October 2000 12:21 AM

Thanks for the offer Daz, but I'm not going to buy one just yet. Going to wait for my waranty to expire first (yep I know some dealers say it doesn't matter, but mine is a Dutch import so I'm unpopular enough already http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif )

Mark Piesse 26 October 2000 08:59 PM

Sammyh

The sound is great, a nice deep raucous note under acceleration, and a vastly improved deeper burble at idle. Cruising is noisier than with the standard back box but not unpleasantly so.

Have been asked at the local petrol station if my exhaust has blown and am I going to get it fixed soon! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

s-k have you taken a picture with the 16's on yet? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
