Looks like you've got the right idea of inserting the URL for your image, but you are pointing to your home page. You need to enter the URL of the actual image, ie the address needs to finish '.jpg'.
so for your picture you need to enter {IMG}http://uk.geocities.com/impreza_dood/my_car3.jpg{/IMG} but replacing the { for [ and } for ].

PS You might also want to reduce the size of the image - not everyone is going to wait for 145K of image to download. 40 to 50K is normally an adequate compression.
