How easy it changing the injectors on MY95 wrx to better ones? Is it as simple as finding some better ones and a simple change over or are there other things i need to consider??

You will find plenty of info here

I've just had mine changed and yes it is that simple! The only other items you might need are connection adapters, I changed my 380cc to 550cc on a MY95 STI RA and I needed to use the adapters as the connections were different on the larger injectors!!

Cheers mate.

I did use the search engine and read up as much as i can about 440 and 550 injectors. Its just when they started talking about phase 1 and phase 2 rails that it lost me :D

Pavlo 13 March 2003 05:53 PM

I need to update the thread with pictures of different injectors in rails etc.

Yeah mate, that will be cool. Then i can have a read. I know i need to upgrade my injectors, just dont know Sh*t about the rails! lol

Your current WRX will have 380cc injectors (GREY). The STi's have 440cc injectors (YELLOW). you can run legacy injectors (480cc) in Phase 1 fuel rails if you need more but can't get 550's (Pavlo will tell you they are easier to get new than second hand:D) as 550'o from the Mazda RX7 pretty much fit in Phase 1 fuel rails.

BTW Phase 1 fuel rails are 92-98 and Phase 2 is 99-01 (not sure about bugeye- Pavlo?) so you'll need Phase 1.

Hope this helps! Any more info and Pavlo's is Scoobnet's resident Injector GURU (ALL HAIL, ALL HAIL THE MASTER OF IDC:D)

Almost forgot - if you change the injectors you'll need an ECU remap to set the ECU up to the larger flow of fuel into the engine.

If it is a standard JECS ECU then speak to David Wallis about the ScobyECU mod he does.

Not sure you necessarily need an ECU map, but it is quite a good idea ;)

Closed loop and fuel pressure adjustments can go a long way.

I know its a phrase you used to use in your pre 320bhp days and don't use much now JB , but "better safe than sorry";););)

Couldn't resist, sorry:D

Phase 3 (new Age) are top fed, there are upgrade/larger injectors available as well.
Phase 1 upgrades are 440cc, 480cc, 550cc, 670cc, 740cc and 850cc.
Phase 2 upgrades are 480cc, 550cc, 670cc, 740cc, 850cc.
Phase 3 upgrades are 565cc, 650cc.

Some of these combinations require different series fuel rails to accommodate.

Cheers guys. I need to get my ecu remapped anyway so thats why i was thinking about doing the injectors before the remap :D

Cheers for the info Mike. WIll have to look at Scoobymania. I thought 550s were big but obviously there are bigger :D :D

Im not that mad though! lol. I was going to move them up to the 440s but its only when someone said if im going to go bigger, i might as well go for the 550s
