This topic has come up at home again recently.

I got some info from Zak on here a while ago, but can anyone else give me some info about what you need to do, rules, regs, and stuff like that.

take the easy option - get an australian passport ;)

Depends weather you want to emmigrate and become an aussie, or just move there for work.

I think that as a UK person, you are allowed to stay there for 3 months (working or not) without a work permit. I think that is' quite easy for english people to get a work permit, special relationship and all that.

Then just apply for a tax number (like an NI number) and start looking for work.

If you're going permie, it would be advisable to get a company with a super-annuation fund (like a pension). I think I've got about 20 dollars in mine ;)

Prob is my other half has already used the 1 yr work visa when she was travelling. I think it would be more of a permanent move than a temporary one.

well, look forward to 11 months of sunshine, being called a pomm where-ever you go, and getting used to just `popping down to the beach for a barbie` ;)

You looking to move to Sydney?

You can get a holiday visa for no more than three months....you cannot enter Australia without a visa at all....

If you are under 30, go for the working holiday visa. This entitles you to 12 months in Australia nad gives you a chance to explore the country to see if you like it.
Th conditions are that you cannot work for more than three months out of the twelve and you have to be able to prove that you have a minimum of AUS$6000 in your account excluding return air fare....

You can get this via the net for AUS$160 or apply for it in writing.

With regards to other visas look on here

Cheers,

Michelle.

BTW, I am over in Sydney, so if you want anything finding out, I am at a loose end for the time being, so I will try to help you as much as possible with any information.:)

Blinding, thanks Michelle.

We are looking at Sydney, after visiting for a while 2 yrs ago. Also, my company has its parent in Sydney (Fujitsu) so that would be ideal for work.
