small beamer - edit your post to take out your email address. Otherwise it'll be more than hookers sending you email :)

What's the scam here? Can anyone explain it in layman's terms?

Tigger 12 March 2003 01:30 PM

Ebay never ask you for any personal details on emails, they state that at the bottom off all of their pages.

Not everyone on ebay is trying to rip you off, I regularly sell things on there with no problems at all.

Quite agree. I've bought loads of things with no probs just that this con is good. They have the exact ebay graphics, the warning message about password details etc and even a charity link. It was only because the links they gave both led into the sign on page that I found it suspicious.

Ive almost came close on ebay to, from a fraudulent seller.
I have used ebay too, with good results, but would now only buy from a person with a very good positive feedback rating, and a high number of sales to back it up

There are some real B*****ds on the net. got an email from ebay regarding an update on an auction I was taking part in. When you clicked on the link it took you straight to the sign in page. At this I got suspicious and went back to the email and spotted a couple of things I was'nt happy about. the email address looked as if it was from ebay but when you put the cursor over the top it came from www.be-be***** etc.
Reported to ebay and they are now investigating as it is a fraudulent email that will enable the crooks to get your sign in details.
Suffice to say although not conned I've changed my sign in and password. Keep your eyes out.
