Hi Neil, We had a similar problem on ours which turned out to be the ignition leads, a common problem.
Try a new set if they haven't already been replaced.
Cheers

Hi all,

Does anyone know anything about MX-5's. My sister has one of the first UK cars (on a G plate, 70k miles) and its developed a really bad misfire. The mechanic that took it for the MOT confirmed it. She put it into a dealer a couple of months ago to get it sorted and the problem is still there. Anyone have any ideas, or know of specific faults with them? Would an thorough engine and fuel system treatment help the problem?

Cheers
Neil

Hmmmm, know bugger all about MX5's but does it do it just when cold? Could be (if you check the other stuf such as HT leads, plugs, fuel filters etc) a blown head gasket. Any garage could check this for you, more likely to be HT leads or something though.

Cheers guys, seems the same sort of info I've been able to suss out - HT leads. Miata net in the US recommend replacing HT too, so I think we'll do that first and see what happens....

(A bit irritating when its been into the dealer to be sorted at a 700+ quid cost and its still knackered http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif But in that they did have to replace the calipers coz thats a know prob on the early cars too http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)

Cheers again for advice http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Neil,
You may already be aware of them but I've used Moss International before for parts
