"Listen to"

Unless you went to their last Wembley concert...sounded like a washing machine.

ragnarock2 09 March 2003 06:41 PM

The fires burning and its out of control, its not a problem, you can stop it ROCK AND ROLL

superdon 09 March 2003 07:19 PM

i went to see them about 8/10 years ago at Maine Road....with Soundgarden and Faith No More!!

Havent listened to them for time.

Markus 09 March 2003 07:24 PM

Ahhhh, good ol GNR! Have Illusions I and II, and regularly play them. November Rain, Coma, Pretty Tied Up, Locamotive, and Get in the Ring, are some of my fave tunes.

Must say, Get in the Ring is a good way to introduce a new employee to a company :D hehehe, if they see the joke, great, if not, well, they sure as hell won't fit in :D

...and to all those opposed, hmmmm, well

STI SPUD 09 March 2003 07:30 PM

Excellent soundtracks for some spirited driving ;)

Must be played VERY loud !!:D:D:D

G'n'R one of the very best !

Rach

Marky-San 09 March 2003 08:40 PM

Estranged, Coma, back off bitch ....class!

CrisPDuk 09 March 2003 09:20 PM

Coincidentally dug Appetite out todat to decorate to, haven't listened to any GNR since buying this house, I'd forgotten just how good they were:)

I killed my MkII Golf GTi in an 80+ off to the sound of 'You Could Be Mine' about 10 years ago:eek:

Have tried to avoid listening to them in the car since:)

mattstant 09 March 2003 11:46 PM

Great band just a shame they had such a prick of lead singer

brickboy 10 March 2003 09:34 AM

Duff McKagan -- burst his pancreas for rock 'n' roll. Top bloke :D

555-Shaggy 10 March 2003 10:00 AM

Currently got Live Era going round in the car.. top band - always will be :D

Andy Tang 10 March 2003 11:50 AM

Saw them at:

Wembley: supported by Nine Inch Nails and Skid Row
Maine Road: supported by Soundgarden and Faith No More
Wembley: supported by Skid Row and another band that escapes me! :o

I have all the CD's up to UYI 1&2, and every picture disc single (up until You Could Be Mine), as well as very rare Japanese version of Appetite for Destruction, with banned sleeve and limited edition stickers!!

A big fan, but I'm waiting for W. Axel Rose to be found in a dead in a very rock and roll fashion so my collection will be worth a bit more!! ;) :o It was valued at over £200 about 10 years ago!!

STI SPUD 10 March 2003 05:17 PM

Andy,

NICE collection. I've seen them live too...fecking excellent band withouta doubt ! :D

XT 10 March 2003 07:31 PM

XT 10 March 2003 07:32 PM

not that you'd care....

what would scooby do 10 March 2003 07:33 PM

XT 10 March 2003 07:35 PM

yup, spaggeti incident is CRAP......i bought it just to complete the collection.....:D

Marky-San 10 March 2003 07:39 PM

haha - just listened to 'Get in the ring' - you know the bit where hes inviting all the people who dissed the band to get their ass kicked. 'Mick Wall Kerrang....'haha! Cool as....

ptholt 10 March 2003 09:54 PM

i saw Mick wall on mtv fairly recently, i remember him from my heavy rock days, was always at maiden and marillion gigs (used to write the programs as well!).

Best part was for me the guy now has like no hair at all, call me odd but that seems poetic justice to me :)

someone mentioned skid row above, that was also a very cool band that self imploded, just thinking of others from the era i enjoyed and saw -

Marillion
Magnum
maiden
leppard
house of lords
dave lee roth
alice cooper
rush
kiss

ooo ive got an urge to dig out old cd's or go hunting thru kazaa hehehe :)

Marky-San 10 March 2003 10:24 PM

House of lords - still a regular of mine!! I've never met....er spoke to anyone who'd heard of them till now. I absolutely love their first album - 'under blue skies' and 'standing on the edge of your life'. I even have a signed 7in of slip of the tongue. Have their other stuff as well - infact they were supposed to be putting out a new album about now.

Bravo2zero_sps 10 March 2003 10:39 PM

Yep another big GNR fan here. Also Skid Row and in those days were Thunder and Little Angels. Somehow I managed to mix those soft metal bands with stuff like Slayer and the old Metallica stuff :D

Class music and listened to loads of it today due to this thread, nice one :D

Little Miss WRX 10 March 2003 11:04 PM

Guns N Roses fan from the age of 13 and still going strong. :D

MooseRacer 10 March 2003 11:07 PM

Saw GNR and Thunder at monsters of rock - both were excellent :D

bug-eyed wonder 10 March 2003 11:11 PM

Thunder "love walked in"

Loved/still do,all that era of rock! :D

pmacFTO 10 March 2003 11:16 PM

Wow....never knew anyone who had heard of House of Lords!! I was into rock. metal (esp technical bands like Dream Theater, Queensryche, Racer X etc) and especially AOR (Journey, Strangeways, Danger Danger etc) way back when!! hehe My g/f is going to see Bon Jovi and I just informed her I saw them in 1987 in Donnington! She was 10 at the time! lol

I am selling a lot of my old vinyl...quite a few autographed too (altho all my Steve Vai stuff stays with me!!) Who else do u guys remember?

Kerrang was THE mag at the time and it's a sad reflection of itself now when u look thru it!!

So much rock - so little hair ;) Still like to buy rock albums now...can't believe how many of those bands are still doing the rounds!

I was into GNR way before they were big over here (and I am not gonna say I saw them at the Marquee - cos if everyone who has said that did go then the marquee must hold 20, 000!! lol )
I used to trade demos with guys in LA and they raved about GNR as well as Faster Pussycat and LA Guns etc....only GNR made it really big tho!

I could go on for hours...but I won't...lol

pmac

Bravo2zero_sps 10 March 2003 11:22 PM

Hugely into guitar music PMAC - you mentioned Steve Vai. I have the laser glove he used in concert 2 yrs ago which cast beams over the audience when he did that ridiculous fast F*&(*&$*& fingering! If you have any artists (new) you are into, let me know - as Vinnie Moore, Satriani, Scott Mishoe and Stuart Hamm are pretty much all I like/know in the modern field right now...

Cheers
