I am currently awaiting (impatiently) delivery of my 03 WRX, which is coming from Gertjan in Holland via Eurekar. Expected delivery is sometime in April. I asked Gertjan for his thoughts on the PPP and he suggested that it would have to be fitted at the 1000 mile service (or later) by a Dutch dealer in Holland. If the PPP was fitted in the UK it would invalidate the warranty.

Hopefull this will prove to be inaccurate, and I intend to clarify the situation with subaru uk. If all else fails I guess a weekend in Holland wouldnt be the end of the world though.

Matski,

Please let me know how you get on with Subaru U.K as i have just taken delivery of a WRX 03 from Belgium and was planning on having PPP fitted but this may make a difference. Although as you say i hope you are wrong as surely if these kits are available from europe it should not be a problem.

Cheers

Neil

What price in Europe?

shady2 09 March 2003 08:01 PM

I actually got the car via EDVC (01433 651334)

£16750 otr. This was a fixed price in sterling.

£1000 Deposit with balance on delivery.

No relation just a satisfied customer who received excellent service.

I meant in Europe for PPP?

shady2 09 March 2003 08:10 PM

No idea. I will buy PPP from a U.k dealer.

Danny B 09 March 2003 08:51 PM

Cheers Matski, let us know how you get on with Subaru UK...

i asked a guy at litchfield imports who said there would be no warrenty probs on a euro STI i was thinking of buying in the summer. i specifically asked could i have PPP fitted rather than the litchfield sports pack that they advertise and he seemed to think there would be no probs.

cheers

After buying a MY01 and wanting PPP, belgium insisted that it was fitted in Belgium to keep the warranty...

Nick Wadeson 10 March 2003 08:27 AM

Dear All

If you have a Benelux import and require a PPP to be fitted, you MUST return to your Benelux dealer to have it installed otherwise your warranty WILL be invalid.

We are not even allowed to install them here without loss of warranty

Thanks, Nick.

Thanks Nick, I guess that is the definitive answer I've been looking for.
Straight from the horses mouth (so to speak)

Spoke to subaru uk today and they confirmed the above. As any warranty work has to be authorised by the dealer in the vehicle's country of origin, it seems that they retain the right to insist that any modifications are carried out by themselves.

Have not been able to get a quote for a Dutch installed PPP as Gertjan is on holiday until next week. Only option is to try and persuade him to fit the pack from new, or to take a trip accross sometime after the first service.

I know, I know everyone asks this question and I haven't seen a definitive answer yet but I'll ask again just in case.
If I buy a MY03 from Europe and drive it to Prodrive to get a PPP fitted would this invalidate the warranty?
Or should the PPP be fitted in the country where I bought it to retain the warranty?
Any ideas...
