Can someone out there please tell me why every time I go outside to put a new ICE install in my car, it bl00dy rains ?

I don't remember the "how to control the weather" bit being in the Chiark guide :p

I've got both front door panels off. My dashboard is in pieces. All the platic sill covers are off. The transmission tunnel gubbins are laying in the boot. The carpet in places has been lifted and I've got wires hanging out everywhere. :(

Will it stop raining so I can put my car back together ?

NO !

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

*Rant mode off*

Sorry about that ;) :D

I really should put "get a double garage" in there :D

Deinstalled everything over the last two evenings. Much easier when you can get all the way around the car with doors, bonnet and boot open.

Good advice, right I'm off house hunting. ;) :D

Knowing my luck i'll put all this stuff in the car and in 6 months time I'll take it all back out again

Have you got huge plans for the ICE in the MY03 ?

Derek FKS 85 07 March 2003 02:56 PM

At least you'll have a double garage to take it back out again in!!!

Nathan L 07 March 2003 04:42 PM

Lol @ Derek :D

chiark 07 March 2003 05:10 PM

nathan, you can't stop it - it's supposed to... Just make sure that your exit holes at the bottom of the door aren't blocked :(

Can see it's raining, it's even got on the dash :D

I'll post some pictures of the de-install later just to upset Chrome. There's nothing more heart breaking than seeing your pride and joy (or soon to be) upside down. Max the Clifford Dealer sent me a picture of the car whilst he was doing the clifford install - the git!!!!!

Cheers,
Nick.

Lol, when my local VSIB delaer put my Clifford in I refused to see the car until it was done :D You'd never know they had done it but I can imagine how she looked during the job.

I know that some water gets into the door from the seal but at the moment there is a small gap and the water is literally pouring in. I've taken the drivers door apart again and there is a small drip or two but nothing like the passenger side.

Just hope it stops raining soon so I can sort it out.

Good old British climate!!!!!!!LOL

I am in the process of fitting components to my front doors,

It started pouring down half way through the job, so i just wired up the main speakers to the existing connections and boxed it back up.
Where do i mount the cross over and should i just keep the existing tweeters?? oh the speakers are :-

JL VR600-CS 6" 2-Way Component system,

ps sorry for hijacking the thread

The crossovers can go in the door if necessary, but I prefer them being under the dash. This means that you need to run two pairs of cables from the x-over into the doors though.

If you fit them in the doors, take the input to the cross-over from the cable that runs to the woofer.

Don't use the existing tweeters. DONT use the existing wiring for the tweeters; you'll likely blow your new ones up.

At last it stopped raining and I managed to put my car back together.

Nathan L 14 March 2003 10:40 AM

Lol :D

Yeah but it keeps the weight down ;) :D

Twohot 14 March 2003 11:03 AM

Lol!

You got any decent pics of the install as I'm interested to not what I can potentially do with my scoob as it's time for some decent tunes!

With MY03 install diary to be added soon :D

ozzy 14 March 2003 02:41 PM

Nathan,

I had the same troubles myself, but living in Scotland doesn't help matters :)

I started an install on a nice Sunny Saturday afternoon, then it decided to pi$$ down for two days.

I drove my car all day Sunday and Monday with no passenger seat, no rear seats, no glovebox, no centre trim (i.e. all the cr@p around the handbrake and no front door cards.

I did have no driver seat too, but I thought I'd better stick that back at least so I could get too work :)

I'm actually glad it rained now as I've found that water is pouring into the left hand door. It's pouring in from the window seal next to the wing mirror when it rains hard. :(

Not too sure hw I'm going to stop it yet :(
