I have 94 model WRX. Does any body know any mods that can be done to improve factory TMIC on older versions of WRXs (without going for FMIC)?
And another silly question: by upgrading IC will it give me more power or it's just for reliability? |
i have fitted a later model STI intercooler to my 95wrx
have a look here at my thread-http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/threa...hreadID=105944 |
What about air spliter or tilt kit will this make a difference?

try water injection, at the end of the day we are all trying to lower charge temp before it enters the inlet manifold, safer too.

Hi m8,
MRT do an upgrade TMIC for your car. I think APS do too. They are very expensive though, not much less in real terms than a front mount and the FMIC is far superior. What about fitting waterspray from an STi? Makes a bit of difference. I did a DIY kit on mine that only cost a few quid. I tested it once on the rollers before and after and the waterspray netted me 3 bhp. Not bad for £20. Several people I know are runing 300bhp+ on the smaller pre97 TMIC like yours. (I got 331 with mine) but what tends to happen is it suffers from heat soak quicker than the bigger ones, so several runs on the dyno and your figures start to get less and less. Hope that helped a bit Cheers Rich P.S. intercooler upgrades won't give you more power as such, well it may a bit because it will cool your inlet charge a bit better, which if the car is up to it fuellingwise could give more power, but it allows you the POTENTIAL to run more power more safely, as it reduces the risk of det etc. etc. So, providing enough fuel is there it would allow boost to be increased safely for example.
