Got a colleague trying to setup a MS 2000 server and VPN server,

he thinks it is running but i cannot get in using xp

any ideas on additional info he might need,

eg stuff from his ISP for the router or anything to do with firewalls

What routers/firewalls have you got anyway?

This is purely from memory.. but i remember a not-so-obvious step. I had to go into Routing / Remote Access, and then set the ports to be inbound only on the server. It worked then.

at the moment can ping the address and get a reply but using xp and simple vpn network connection with defaults it will not let me in

in xp when making a vpn connection do i just go with the defaults
