Yes, lots do. One that springs to mind as doing both "out of the box" is the Blaupunkt woodstock. Most others need an add-on MP3 unit.
Cheers, NIck. |
Thanks Nick.... was looking at that Alpine unit.... the one that's about £300 (can't remember the model number off-hand)
Is there any head unit, of that quality, that supports MP3 without the use of a changer unit... an all-in-one jobbie? |
Also.... it seems that an uprated aerial is required.... what would be the recommendation in this instance?
|
Uprated aerial is always a requirement for DAB, it uses a massively different frequency range IIRC.
The woodstock includes MP3 support in the head unit - put a disc in with MP3s on it as files, rather than an audio disc, and it'll play them. Kenwood, alpine, pioneer and sony all do MP3 head units now, but the woodstock is to my knowledge the only one that does it all in one box. Have a quick search and you'll find opinions - most people are very impressed, with the odd glitch in DAB reception |
Do you reckon its worth it? Or should I be looking at that end-of-line Kenwood head unit with £200 off the £450 rrp?
|
I use kenwood myself - but haven't got DAB. If you really want DAB, look at the price of the add-on unit for the kenwood.
Also, shop around and it might be a bit cheaper - dry mcs-direct? I got a cd changer dirt cheap from them for my wife... (Bought for her car, I didn't literally swap her for a cd changer- though that might be a better deal in the long run. (Only joking darling for when she gets to hear about this) :D ) |
Do any car hi-fi systems support this? If so, do any also support MP3?
