Question is... would it be rude not to :D

Dunc20 03 March 2003 02:32 PM

Go for it!- try it out, then you can come on here and tell us all how badly it handles!!

Crush 03 March 2003 02:36 PM

Go for it. You might love it :D

I wouldn't let a few people who haven't even driven one or seen one for real put me off ;)

rb5 286 03 March 2003 02:37 PM

every1's driving styles r different so it will suit some but not others

Steve001 03 March 2003 03:42 PM

Take the offer and thrash it for a couple of days. But keep your concentraction switched on as it handles like Bambi on ice !!. Watch out for the excesive torque steering. A friend of a friend took me in his to show it off, would not be my cup of tea, but hey each to there own. Tell us what you think when you've finished.

chiark 03 March 2003 03:52 PM

Give it a go - doesn't hurt to try it...

wrx bill 03 March 2003 10:17 PM

id give it a go just so i could cane its nutters off for 2 days plus its on the free

WaxBoy 03 March 2003 10:29 PM

try it! In this day an age of super-competent chassis I personally would like to try somthing that actually needs to be driven!

The future of performance is NOT cars like the Scooby STi8 and its ilk that demolish B-roads but light cars like the new Smart Roadster that offer 911-esque sensations at 8/10ths pace.

The Focus RS may be the antidote to the current breed of tractioncontrol dummeddown superhatches.

dave cos4x4 03 March 2003 11:20 PM

Try it! you must tell us the whole truth and nothing but the truth though about the way the car performs!

Even though you are not a Ford man................you might wanna change over afterwards.

We are waiting for your reply.

Dave.

"Bambi on ice"

Funny statement but not true. If you've been in the car you would already know that to be the case.

It does need a bit more skill for sure, but surely anyone on here would be capable of that? It may well cause concern for someone who has never driven a fast, FWD, car.

TopBanana 04 March 2003 03:03 PM

They want people to write them all off so they can claim on their insurance. Beats selling them for a living

Sideways 06 March 2003 01:56 PM

I just sold a STi 7 for a Focus RS and I am so pleased with it.
It handles so well even compared to a 4wd Scooby. A mate took the Pi55 out of it untill I raced his Evo 6 haven't heard a word out of him since :)

Yes it does torque steer a bit but so did the STi, everybody who has been in it is very impressed with it :D

Try it mate I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised. It has after all been voted Top gear performance car of the yaer and best car of the year.
Remember when Subaru had that crown ???

Though EVO magazine say "... we reckon the Focus RS is seriously flawed. Being forced to wrestle the steering wheel half-way through an overtake just to stay on the road isn't our idea of the thrill of driving."

Jezzer Clarkson had a similar impression IIRC.

Now, if they changed that (obviously not well respected) diff to something more friendly would it improve the car dramatically????

You pays ya money.......

The review in Evo is pretty much the only negative review around and JC is entitled to his opinion.. It's a shame that The Stig disagreed and now the whole magazine does too!

It's not bad for a car that is slagged off on the first TV show of the new TV series to becoming Car of the Year 2003 a few months later!!

Still, I can't imagine ANY car ever being liked by absolutely everyone. Nothing can ever be perfect. A review may say "This is the best car ever" but, like washing powder commercials, in 5 years time another car is "the best" and the reviewer is suddenly slating the old car saying how outdated it is, how bad it handled, how unreliable it was, how ugly it was etc etc..

Yaaawwwnnnn!!!!

Lan Man 07 March 2003 07:28 AM

My mate picks his up Saturday, so I will go for a ride, take some pics, and see whats we think.

I always used to be a Ford Geezer - Mk1 Mexico, Mk2 RS200, Cossie, etc, etc.

And although I love my Scoob to bits, I am still keen to see how this contraversial motor is in the flesh.

MrShades 07 March 2003 10:47 AM

Is there a 0 missing there Lan Man?

Do you really mean RS200 - or should it be RS2000.....???

RS200 is one of my fave all time cars..... and way  if it is.

However, methinks its a typo :(

dazc2 07 March 2003 07:47 PM

As they never made a mk 2 RS200 i think it must be a MK2 RS 2000 :)

7 Foot 07 March 2003 09:57 PM

Do it! Why wouldn't you?

Can't beat having a hoon around in someone elses <cough> performance car.

I have a lotus garage calling me every few weeks trying to sell me cars. All I did was fill in a flyer that fell out of EVO. Have already had a test in an Elise and have booked a go in a 111S and an Exige for next month. Joy!!:D

Lan Man 11 March 2003 06:29 PM

Yeah Yeah ok, an RS2000, with twin 40's, and a cam shaft like a broom-handle with bricks on.

Those carburettors used to sound lurrvly :D
showing me age now - doh!
