Boy those guys had some guts landing them on carrier flight decks:eek:

Spectacular prangs as they fought to 'get it right' Amazing footage

Interesting that the British pilots showed the way and taught the Yanks how to land their own planes :D

I'd love a go in one of those Corsairs :D Not on a carrier though ;)

DanTheMan 27 February 2003 08:51 PM

I know, scary footage of them ripping wings off and snapping in two when landing.....just scary man

Popeye P1 27 February 2003 09:04 PM

Just seen it. Those Kamikaze pilots gave the Yanks such a headache.

Taking the last few islands, Hundreds of thousands of allies would have died so its no wonder they dropped the bombs on Hiroshima/Nagasaki.

UB,
Have you seen the clip of the chinook landing on a carrier - and things go slightly wrong

I'll upload it tommorow if you havent, frightening stuff.

unclebuck 27 February 2003 09:30 PM

do it :D I've not seen it. As long as people walk away I like those kind of things.;)

It's a bit like Jackass, but on a serious scale :D:D

mj 27 February 2003 09:32 PM

they don't so much walk away - more like sink to the bottom of the atlantic.

I'll send it anyway.

unclebuck 27 February 2003 09:41 PM

oh, go on then :D:D I had a shot somewhere of a ground crew guy being sucked into a jet engine on a flight deck  The flames from the jet's exhaust were incredible :(

unclebuck 27 February 2003 09:45 PM

That *is* a Corsair landing :D:D Shame it's sooo tiny.

mj 27 February 2003 09:46 PM

unclebuck 27 February 2003 09:58 PM

Well, it's a Quicktime file and on my cable modem here it'll take ages to download. Saw the first frames though.:D
