Am I asking the impossible!?

I am staying in London next week, and need a room for the night. I HATE, with a passion, boring, chain hotels, so wondered if anyone could recommend be a design orientated/funky hotel in central london. I know of the likes of the Hempel, Metropolitan etc but could do with not getting a mortgage!

Any help appreciated!

Try MyHotel in Bloomsbury, just off tottenham court road.

The Sanderson - great bar too ;)

(possibly a mortgage jobby, but you do get some good deals with current underoccupancy in London Hotels)

Meridian on Picadilly not trendy, but bang in the middle of it all and good. My boss stayed there when he was over from New York.

The White House Hotel near Regents Park is REALLY nice (about £120 per night and worth every penny) :)
