No, 640 x 480 would be more like it. I don't like having to scroll right to see the rest of an image. And I don't like to have to wait for a large image to download.

Don't assume that everybody runs their browser full screen, i certainly don't.

Cheers

1024x768 is best. Covers more of the screen. Big grey spaces round the second one :D

Out of the 2 800x600 but i tend to keep mine at 640x480 to enable faster browsing etc.

A lot of people use 1024x768 as their screen resolution, so a picture that size is really too big to post on SN where some of the screen is taken up by other stuff. 800x600 is friendlier. Most laptop screens are 1024x768.

That said, I'm a sucker for pixels - my desktop runs in 1600x1200, and so does the laptop I just ordered, so I'd personally prefer the larger image.

For what it's worth, I tend to post pics at 640x480 or thereabouts, just to help those poor souls without broadband.

800x600 is best.

Personally I prefer 720x540 with a jpeg compression of about 60% - reasonable quality and size for internet viewing without huge download times. Also very considerate for people with lo-res displays - given min display size is 800x600, users can see full 720x540 pic without having to scroll!

I've started posting them at 700 pixels, seems to work for me:) Of your two I prefer the 800 as it fits on the screen whereas the 1024 I have to scroll about.

Bob
