I received a very official looking form from the CROWN DATA COLLECTION ENFORCEMENT AGENCY this morning

Advising me that I was not registered

I checked my files and noticed the person responsible had left and indeed we were out of date

I was just about to fill out the forms when i thought lets just check the website I must be able to do this online

I spoke to Business Link Advisor and she warned me that this was a scam

so beware of CROWN DATA COLLECTION ENFORCEMENT AGENCY

Just emailed Trading Standards

Have been out of date for some time

Employee was a waste of space and we have just found yet another thing that he hadn't done

Most companies are out of date and don't fully understand the act - that's why the scam works so well

One of my friends has just told me he got the same request and he also discovered it is a Scam. They offer to register you for £95 when it costs you £65 to do it yourself. The address given was empty when it was checked with a load of uncashed cheques at the door. Sounds a bit "fly" to me!

Just opened our mail at work and yep I have the CROWN DATA COLLECTION URGENT NOTICE too

They even provided an addressed (not stamped) envelope to send your £95 fee back to them

Cheeky feckers - they'll be getting nowt from me :)

Thanks for the post :)

Yeah we've had a letter from these idiots too - I twigged it was a scam more or less straight away, but some bigger firms would probably just pay it without thinking. It's not just the 'Crown Data Protection Enforcement Agency' at it either. There's a few firms out there performing this scam. Click here for a list of the main offenders.

My Dad recieved this too but realised it was a scam and reported it to Trading Standards.

We got ours a month ago ;)

It is worth the effort in reporting each case to Trading Standards, as they're trying to build a case for prosecuting them.
