Get well soon.

Ibuprofen is a better choice than paracetamol. But paracetamol is stronger. My dentist suggested alternating between them, but I found that ibuprofen was adequate in the event.

Paracetamol makes you have amazing dreams though ;)

You can taken Brufen or Ibuprofen and paracetamol at the same time.

Too much brufen gives you ulcers and too much paracetamol gives liver failure and horrible death.

Both within their respective limits e.g. paracetomol 1G every 6 hours and brufen 400mg every 8 hours is fine.

WHere people go wrong is mixing paracetamol and mixed analgesics which have paracetamol in them e.g. co-proxamol as then you exceed the paracetamol maximum.

BTW I am a consultant search me and you will find I am :D

As for NHS direct what a joke......."oh I think you should go to casualty or see your G.P. etc"!

im stuffed when I go to the docs and they prescribe antibiotics

I am immune from Amoxycillin now, it no longer works for me, so side effects, just doesnt do anything anymore

probably from taking far too much

Taking paracetamol and ibuprofen together does a pretty good job. That sufficed till the effects started to become less.

HP.....can you confirm whether taking di-hydramol and ibuprofen together is okay?

Bajie 26 February 2003 08:36 AM

I'm not a doctor.

After a recent injury I was given super strength ibuprofen [2 tablets a day] supplemented with paracetomol to keep the edge off the pain.

Leslie 26 February 2003 12:45 PM

I did read though that taking Ibruprofen and aspirin can be dangerous. Can lead to heart problems.

Cheers guys..after a sleepless night last night I am taking anything I can get me hands on tonight..I know you can mix paracetemol with ibuprofen i just wasn't sure bout when taking antibiotics..but to be honest tonight I'm past caring..lol...I don't care if I rattle when I stand on my head :D

Little Miss WRX 27 February 2003 11:18 AM

Ibuprofen is actually a derivative of aspirin, hence why they aren't taken together I think.....
