As above really in the north, south yorks area. Looking for a bare metal respray. Would be willing to travel as well.
Been quoted £1500 so far does that sound a fair price as i havent got any idea really on costs of spraying. Thanx in advance John. |
why do you want bare metal?
|
As i said i dont know to much about spraying. I was told by someone that as i was going to a completey different colour that it is what i would need. Im not entirley sure so if i dont i guess it will work out a lot cheaper.
|
Done this a few times myself. A full colour change is a massive job (to do properley) engine out, doors striped out, inside the boot everything dissmantled etc etc, even if you do all the removal and refit yourself £1500 would sound pretty cheap to me.
One thing to consider is resale, if its a non original colour it could have a negative affect on the price !!. You probably dont need a bare metal repaint but if thats what your going to go for £1500 is a bargin. |
If i dont need one then thats ok. Was just going on what a friend told me. Not to bothered about re-sale as im keeping the car for a while. Its going from red to cashmere yellow a sti lookalike so may help sell if thats what someone wants.
Anyone no of a good body shop to carry this out?? |
Put it this way...
The Merc is gonna cost £5000 for a bare metal. Thats not including new trim bits, window rubbers (which you will need) and ancillaries. A proper bare metal should take 200-300 hours. The paint alone will be around £600 |
If you want to strip the car and deliver as a rolling shell, I know a man that will do a blinding job for a good price.
|
If you want to respray a different colour, i would go for the bare metal respray. You might as well rub it down back to scratch and respray it! Far better in the long run.
£1500 is cheap, like merc said above, the paint is about £600 - £800 and the labour work is a pain in the arse!! |
