I have got a load of files i want to transfer from one laptop to another.
Theres too much data for infra-red transfer or laplink (parallel) so i thought i could connect the 2 together with an ethernet crossover cable. If i set the IP addresses so they see each other (192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2, netmask 255.255.255.0) then what do i need to do within Windows so that i can use an FTP package to get from one to the other ?? I have shared the folder i want to get files from. Dave |
Nowt! Just use start->find (or search), computers, and find the other computer, then double click the share that you've have shared and drag n drop.

Remember if the 2 machines are directly connected you need a twisted network cable and not an ordinary cable.

To be honest if its quick and temp I wouldn't even bother with IP just use Netbeui as the protocol.
