Iain
These things certainly do make you grin!
Everyone that's seen me driving mine (Type RA, delivered three weeks ago) says i'm grinning like an idiot.

Haven't even bothered putting a sound sytem in it yet! Who needs one when you've got a super dragger??? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Good Luck
Russ

Ari - I can't believe there's another Rush fan on the list. When you get your car make sure 'Red Barchetta' is on the stereo at full tilt.

blubs 01 March 2000 12:41 AM

.............or 'Finding My Way' http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif

RussP 01 March 2000 12:57 AM

Showing your age boys....? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Ari Fernelius 01 March 2000 12:57 AM

Gary,

Yeah, I guess I'm a fan, since I own some 14 Rush studio albums. However, I'm not so much into the old progressive rock - thus listening much to the mid-80's Rush, which is not considered so good by the hardcore fans.

The words of Red Barchetta really rule - gotta try that. Also, "Driven" from "Test for Echo" is a Must. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Too bad I can't afford a decent car stereo right away - just bought a Sony CDX-C7850R head unit - probably will upgrade the rear speakers as soon as possible, before a complete amp/woofer/front tweeter -kit.

On the other hand... perhaps that flat-four of Scooby's is enough music for a newbie :-)

2 DAYS TO GO! (sorry, couldn't resist http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif )

Picked my first scooby up this morning.
What can I say that you haven't heard before?!
My face hurts from grinning so hard! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Only 2 miles from the garage and a TVR wanted to race at the lights! (didn't oblige)
Anyway I'm off out again, I'm looking for another scooby to wave to! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Cheers
Iain.

Ari Fernelius 01 March 2000 11:08 AM

IanT,

Congrats! I can fully relate to your feelings soon, since I'm picking up my first-ever new car, and thus my first Scooby on friday! My previous cars were '77 Vauxhall 1.2 and '89 Lancia Prisma 1.3, so... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

By the power of energy drinks and sugar overdose, it WILL be driven in properly by sunday. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif

The grinning just doesn't stop does it!
Keeping it under 4000 rpm is a bit tricky tho' http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
just done 156 miles over glorious empty wiltshire roads and the only shock was the fuel gauge! I thought I was looking at the rev counter the needle was moving so quick! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif
Ari, it is sooo well worth the wait, start training those face muscles http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif.
Cheers guys.
Iain.

Ari Fernelius 01 March 2000 03:59 PM

Iain,

Having read a LOT about the fuel consumption of Scoobys, I think I'll find it relatively easy to drive very carefully the first 1000 miles - half mpg compared to my previous cars at starters could be a shock. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif I'll be just concentrating on how other people stare at me. I exclusively bought my first-ever sunglasses (that fix bad eyesight) because of this occasion. I think my eyes will sparkle and twinkle so that other people would go blind. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/cool.gif

Besides, if I was allowed to floor it at once, I'd probably get an permanent facial injury. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Fortunately, fueling up the tank will always reset the muscles back to normal position...until you start up the engine once again. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Cool, more Rush fans.
Got more or less all their albums, but prefer ye olde marillion myself.

RON 01 March 2000 11:23 PM

Yep!!!!!!!!!!
I picked mine up today aswell, now done 148 miles, and I find myself grinning like the preverbial chesire cat.
Can't wait til the morning so that I can drive to work.
Thats a first!!!!!
Yipee.
Ron.

Ari Fernelius 02 March 2000 08:34 AM

ptholt,

Hey, nobody just said anything about Marillion yet. I'm as much fan of theirs as Rush's.

Here's an objective fact, NOT an opinion (so it can't be argued http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif: Misplaced Childhood and Fugazi are the best two albums ever recorded by anyone.

Not to forget the subject and the hype; One, I repeat, one (1) more night, and then she will be mine... oh yes... she will be mine.. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

johnfelstead 02 March 2000 12:18 PM

god you guys are wimps, i'd be up to 700 miles by now http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Nick 02 March 2000 03:15 PM

Fernis

Having both those albums - maybe I'd agree that they are the best 2 ever recorded by Marillion.......!

Everyone knows that 90125 by Yes is the best! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

BarryK 02 March 2000 09:49 PM

JF, not only are they wimps, but they need to get their bleedin' 'air cut too.

WAY OT but..
Fave Marillion albums. Script for a Jesters
tear, B-sides themselves(esp Grendel) and of
the Hogarth stuff, Seasons End.

johnfelstead 02 March 2000 10:05 PM

ROFL BarryK http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

are you going to donno?

BarryK 02 March 2000 10:10 PM

JF, no, for 3 reasons

1) Wife will kill me.
2) Wife would want to drive.
3) Wife knows no fear!

That's 7 reasons less than Jason Donovan, but he's an "iron" so they say.

Ari Fernelius 03 March 2000 07:33 AM

Nick,

Got 90125 too, and it's marvellous. But didn't you hear when I said facts can't be argued? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif (ok, let's cut it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif ...back to the topic:

NO-GO TODAY! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Bugger! Buggerbugger! I'm not getting my car today, but on next tuesday! The installation of the bloody air/con had taken so much time from the importer that the car arrives my dealer today, which makes them possible to change the tyres and do some initial service on monday...

back to 4 nights of waiting... althgouh I can go and see my car (and sit in it) already tomorrow. Can't wait even for that! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Rich_R 03 March 2000 08:46 AM

Any of you running-in guys going to Donnington on Sunday? I would join up with some of the planned convoys but I guess they may exceed 4000 RPM http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Anybody in the Bagshot (M3 J3) /Ascot/Bracknell area going?

Cheers
Rich.

Ari Fernelius 03 March 2000 01:31 PM

Rick,

very funny http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif However, I'm living in Finland, so it's a little bit too much effort and £ to travel there for just one lame track day...

...not to mention my butt-lame standard back box, that couldn't let me hear my own engine sounds over the others' http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

-Fernis, the bitter one http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
